Hope you’re enjoying Arkansas. Look and you’ll find so many things to do outdoors year round if that’s your cup of tea.

I appreciate the sentiment however we moved back to Montana 2 months ago. We enjoyed our short time in Arkansas but we really missed Montana, especially the snow.

@@joshuawhiteadventurefilms I would love to get a little more in depth take on why you moved back as someone who is considering the NW Arkansas area. I've been there dozens of times but living there is totally different so would love some inside information from someone who made the move and then moved back.

Cross country trips are fun! Expect the unexpected. I would have probably made a nice mattress out of Tylee's plushies when the hotel didn't work out. I am glad you are closer to us.

You should all adjust well. Not too shocking of a change and much better cost of living. Arkansas is a good choice. I would love to take my wife and daughter on that trip to see what wide open spaces are like in America. We live in the Philippines and will be moving to Oklahoma soon...

Thank you! Cost of living is the primary reason we left Montana. So far, we are really enjoying Northwest Arkansas. Best of luck on your upcoming move to Oklahoma!

Do you like it? Do you ever miss all the snow and big mountains?

@haleyhuffman2746 I miss the West sometimes. I thought I'd miss the big mountains, but I don't so much. Where we live in AR has pretty rugged terrain with pretty views, which satisfies me. Although, there is a lot of flat terrain in AR that would be hard to live in for this mountain girl! It is beautiful here in its own way, just different, which has taken time to get used to (we moved 3 years ago). We get occasional snow, which is great. I got so tired of 6-8 months of snow and gray skies in N Idaho. I like that we get snow...it's pretty...then it melts off 😁 It gets really cold here in the winter but it is short-lived with the occasional warm day sprinkled throughout. The rural people are skeptical of "foreigners" and stand-offish at first. But once they know what you're about, that you're not moving in to change their ways, they are really wonderful and down to earth. We are getting to know some good friends finally. Looks like we're here to stay if God wills it 😊

We actually moved back to Montana back in October. It’s very expensive living here but we missed the quality of life that Montana offers. Best of luck on your move, Arkansas is not a bad place to live, we just missed the vast wilderness, large mountains, winter recreation.

Thank you, I don’t consider myself a hero, I simply try to be mindful of the child perspective…even when I neglect the adult perspective of the importance of fuel economy.

@@joshuawhiteadventurefilms Same here. I do just what you do to make my children's life better. Way better than mine was anyway. I'll never miss the money, but I'll always remember the smiles and good times.

I've lived in Arkansas for 29 years, and am what southerners would call a "damned yankee", as I'm someone who moved to Arkansas from up north and chose to stay. I spent most of my time with a career in South Arkansas, not an easy feat, as careers there are not as common as you would hope, and they don't always pay as well. I now live in northern Arkansas, and am very happy in my retirement. I've discovered that Arkansas is two distinct places, and maybe even three. The southern part of the state is still in the past, and my experience was that it is poor, repressed, and can be quite unsettled and racist. It is also quite poor and the crime levels can be quite high. Northern Arkansas is conservative and a much larger percentage of the population is white, something I was not used to 'down south'. It actually surprised me how few in this area are not white. Crime is less, and there are retirees everywhere, from almost every state in the country. Then there is central Arkansas, which is dominated by Little Rock, one of the worse cities for crime in the country. I go thru Little Rock still about 1-2 times a year, but typically never stop. Why did I stay? Because in spite of the things I mentioned above, it's a beautiful state, and the good people make up for the bad. And northern Arkansas has much of what I was looking for as a retirement area, and the folks here are even nicer and the cities cleaner and doing good business, with very few that are shut down. I'd say the economy here is as good as you will find in the mid-south. It's home now. Oh, and the cost of living here is another great thing about it.

We ended up moving back to Montana. Our experience in Northwest Arkansas wasn’t bad, it simply didn’t work out for us because we really missed the quality of life in Montana. We really enjoyed the biking and vibe of Bentonville, but missed the snow and more mild summers. Despite growing up in Florida, I was not prepared to endure the heat and humidity after being in the Northwest for over a decade. Arkansas is a beautiful state and we enjoyed some great experiences there. I’m grateful for the time we spent there. If you want a more detailed explanation, I will link a video where I reflect on our departure from Arkansas. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpCXpYCHnM1qec0si=xMfJJGnbkdnOa5Zh
