Moving to Ireland | Buying Land To Live Off Grid | Seeing our land for the first time and Vanlife

Finally we get see our land for the beginnings of our off grid dream. We had never seen it before and had bought it blind trusting our friends judgement. What amazing mates they were! It was beautiful. We then enjoy some last bits of van life before getting stuck into some work.

We are- a family of four,

and we decided to trade our busy life as home and business owners to chase the dream we’ve harboured for 10years.
Pickles the van-
We first bought our Mercedes MWB sprinter van for £700 back in 2012 and converted it ourselves on a very tight budget! After 6 years of awesome adventures we needed to find a van that was better suited to us as a growing family of four and one all important van dog!
We all felt too attached to Pickles to get rid, so we stripped him bare and started again.
We cut the roof off to maximise our space and created what we now proudly call our home on wheels.

How did we get here
After years of saying one day, we finally realised that these opportunities don’t just land in your lap and if we seriously wanted to travel Europe as a family in our self converted sprinter camper van then we were going to have to be brave and make it happen.
We sold all our stuff, our house and our camper conversion business and landed in a dream come true.
Our timing may be a little of what with a global pandemic and Brexit round the corner but I know that when we set our minds and hearts to something we always make it work.
Now we’ve made this dream a reality there is no stopping us! our plan is to travel to new places, see new things, meet new people and learn new skills that will guide us on our journey of finding land and creating a way of life that sings to us, one where we aren’t bound to the banks, working every hour and outsourcing all of our needs. A simple way of life, with connection to ourselves, each other, the earth and our community.

Well done looks a great place I toured Ireland about 3 times for a few months at a time and the Irish people are so nice and friendly on quite a few occasions invited us into their homes for a meal with them.💕👍

SERIOUSLY EPIC! The land, house and out buildings honestly look like a dream come true. Really stoked for you all. Me and the kids heading to scotland for a month, doing the North Coast 500 as well as visiting pals north. Ireland is on my to do list. We'd love to visit. West cork is absolutely beautiful. Yes we found ours on Daft.ie That being said local knowledge is great in really rural areas as there are plenty of gems that aren’t listed on Daft.ie

England is to busy for us and lacks the strong sense of community we have here in ireland. Annie is Irish though and it’s thanks to her that I had an opportunity to fall in love with this place. This place actually fell through at the last minute but we found a great spot to settle into now about half hour from this one.

God Ireland has been too hot this last week. We prefer the nature/woodland and temperate climate. Also Annie’s family live here
