We just bought our retirement home in New Tazewell and just got back yesterday from visiting it and doing a few small repairs. We love the area and the people. It's far better than here in CA.

We were looking to move to NE TN, somewhere more remote than Knoxville but still not too far from a Walmart, and get some land to build on. But it looks like a lot of the country is having the same idea, and apparently the housing market is inflated to like 10 times the number appropriate for the area's median income...? Some kind of bubble thing going on there that's going to burst eventually? What do you see going on?
@livinginknoxville Жыл бұрын
I don't think its a bubble. I was in the business during the last crash and this increase in pricing is not the same. The demand is real and for the right reasons. There are still affordable areas in rural east tn outside of the major cities that are affordable. If you want to email me we can set up a time to talk about what you are looking for and maybe I can give you some advice on areas to look. Contact info is below.

Housing is expensive everywhere and not unique to TN. Give it a few years when interest rates drop, people default on their loans, and more people are being required to work in office that prices will drop.

Do you have any videos comparing Tennessee and North Carolina?
@livinginknoxville27 күн бұрын
We do not but I would be glad to do that video for you. Is there a certain city or area of NC that you would like me to feature in the comparison?

Could you do a video on living in South Knoxville?
@livinginknoxville Жыл бұрын
Yes I do already have one on south Knox out. Have you seen it?

What about allergies in spring and the humidity during the summer? Heard it’s pretty bad and a big deal but you didn’t mention it at all
@livinginknoxville Жыл бұрын
allergies are talked about in a few videos. Anywhere in the south if you are a sensitive to allergies then you will have times of the year that you will have to fight them. The humidity is not as bad as people say. Yes we have days in the summer that are hot and humid, we are in the south but it not all summer and everyday. You can look at the weather online and see that we consistently have front coming through giving variation to all our seasons. There is no perfect place this side of Heaven but East TN has 4 mild and distinct seasons that are very appealing to most people.

Allergies? Lol You need to worry about dying. Healthcare here is the worst.

Crime rates in Tennessee are concerning
@livinginknoxville Жыл бұрын
They can be concerning if you just look at the rate. Crime in Knoxville appears to be concentrated in a few areas but that obviously does not mean that something cannot happen any where. I have live in East TN most of my life and have never felt unsafe. I have a daughter who will be a sophomore at UT this year in an apartment downtown and we don't feel its unsafe for her compared to any other city. I am attaching a website you can look at that actually records the crimes and shows the areas they occur. communitycrimemap.com/ I hope that helps and please let me know if I can help in any other way.

I appreciate your video. Although it seems like the weather is changing so much due to global warming that it's hard to really have "averages" any more. We too just purchased our retirement home in Maryville and will move there in two weeks. I can't wait to explore the mountains and all the area around Knoxville.

Congratulations!! Hope you really enjoy the area.

Weather patterns over hundreds, thousands of years changed over time. This global warming nonsense is overblown.
