It's the most important to build your own path and self generate. I like what he said there about that... No one is going to find you. Write your own stories. Be your own architect. (And nowadays you can do that from your computer.)

Lots of solid honesty here -- thanks for that. On the flip side, it's really difficult to imagine how The Scene will change as collaborative options accelerate online. I hate the internet from a production standpoint because it creates a lot of lazy daydreamers. They want to "film" but they don't show up. I think the thing I see the most whenever I visit friends in LA is that the fact that people made the move is a HUGE sign of a certain amount of diligence and focus. I know how hard it is to get actors to show up in Chicago (even paid actors!), I can't imagine how difficult it is to get folks in Fargo, ND to show up. But if they're making a huge move to the West coast, it's a sign that they're at least investing in themselves.

Its very true. Actors often think you're assessing their talent, but half the time you're just wondering if they'll be there on the day :) I like to work with people on small projects if I can, the move to bigger things.

I'm trying to decide between Atlanta,LA,Texas,New York but before I move I need to get all my equipment my biggest fear is crime rate, cost of living, but once I get my equipment my goal is to do just about anything to make those connections. I have an ENTIRE UNIVERSE OF CHARACTERS, I HAVE A PRODUCT AND LINE OF MERCHANDISE CREATED I EVEN WRITE MUSIC THE PROBLEM IS JUST MONEY, CONNECTIONS EQUIPMENT AND A TALENTED CREW WILLING TO BRING THINGS TO LIFE UNTILL WE MAKE A PROFIT I often wonder if every filmmakers starting out.. fears LA as much as I do I just feel like the crime rate,cost of living traffic and other bus there isn't worth it I'm considering Atlanta, Texas,NYC more just because the cost of living and rising movie community there seems to be better

Great topic to touch on, I am actually moving to LA at the end of August from DC to continue pursuing and expand on my film career as a solo filmmaker but more so as a DP. This was great advice and pretty much erased any doubts I had for moving. Ive been planning on it for about a year now. I have a ton of questions but Im sure you wont be able to get to all of them. Ill ask anyways. First, would you suggest joining a union/guild as a DP or even Director? And what are your thoughts on working for a company as a full-time videographer while still pursuing a career as a DP? Thirdly, what are the chances of getting signed to an agency as a DP or Director? Is it worth pursuing? Sorry for the incessant questions im just super curious 😅

Also wanted to go back to financing for features, Would you say that LA is the best place to raise funds for a feature? Maybe you can touch on a video that talks about the best ways to raise funds for a film?

How interesting - I've been subscribed to your channel for months and never picked you to be a fellow Aussie! I'm finding that location can be a real inhibitor when it comes to renting equipment. Not much choice for rental houses in Brissie, (plenty in Sydney or Melb by the looks of it) - so I can imagine moving to L.A. or any of the other major capital cities can open even more doors than the connections you speak of in this video.

What lens are you using in this video. Do you do wedding films to subsidize your income. Coming from Australia California prob feels more like home. If you like to surf plenty of waves.

Did you go to college or university in order to get jobs. I’m really passionate about film but I don’t have the money to attend schooling.

I didn't go to film school. I got a BA in Philosophy and supported myself through school making films on the side.

I was wondering how you got the permission to live and work there, since you're from Australia?
@Crimsonengine

The US has a special visa for Australians called the e3. I had two of those, then got my Greencard. It was still a massive pain in the arse but nothing compared to what others have to go through.

Your video is very insightful and true from what I've experienced in NYC. I went to film school in New Jersey and its always been a tough call to move out to LA or stay near NYC. NYC does have a lot of TV.

Dear Wonder Woman Mrs Gal Gadot, Wonder Woman 1984 Film Director Mrs Patty Jenkins, The Academy Awards Board of Governors, and The Dolby Theater of Beverly Hills California, Hello from Jerusalem Israel. How are you all? I hope you have all had a awesome day. I am writing to tell you both thank you all so much for inspiring my life saving Mobileye Intel Jerusalem career and inspiring me to never give up to achieve my Academy Award winning dream. I will be twenty seven years old in Jerusalem this May 15th. I use artificial intelligence and computer machine learning technology to daily save lives from car collisions. Wishing you all the best, Regards, Mr Jonathan Trauner You all inspire me Mrs Gal Gadot, Mrs Patty Jenkins and the Oscar Academy Awards to persevere and love myself unapologetically and unconditionally every single day and you all inspire me every day to become the first ever openly autistic Oscar Academy Award winner this April in 2021 in Beverly Hills Los Angeles California at Dolby Theater. You all saved my life through who you all are. I am proud to be who I am as a loving and empathetic human being without shame and compromise. My loving parents Mr Keith Trauner and Mrs Sara Trauner in Coconut Grove South Miami Florida live next door to Mr Alex Rodriguez and Mrs Jennifer Lopez. My mother is reachable at +1-305-778-9350. quinnews.com/wondrous-a-future-associated-press-published-story I authored a article on the film Wonder Woman 1984 which I finished watching in full in my hometown of the last five straight years Jerusalem Israel last week on Thursday. I passed on my article to both Mrs Gal Gadot and Mrs Patty Jenkins. Mrs Gal Gadots main makeup artist Mrs Sarah Brock has two adult sons in their twenties who have my Autism and they live and lead empathetic, loving, compassionate, kindhearted, giving, joyous, brave, and courageous lives. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5OmepaBpM2smpo (Wonder Woman Mrs Gal Gadot interviewed Israel's first openly autistic film journalist Mr Ori Yitzhaki for Israel's Hazinor TV Station). WE ARE WONDROUS SUPERHEROES // How does the superhero fly when the superhero is needed most? // How does the superhero fly when the world needs heroes most? // My heart believes in the truth that every loving person has a soul. // My heart champions the message, everyone can be a light of hope. // Hope is what drives our human race to overcome limits and be heroic. // Hope is what pushes our human race to love and inspire who we love. // If you love who you are and what you do, you will make the world loving. // We are all superheroes when the world needs love and peacefulness most. // We are all superheroes when we look in the mirror and wake up every morning. // We are wondrous when we share love. When we love the world, we are heroic. Be persistent and never give up - Mrs. Gal Gadot.
