I grew up there and couldn’t wait to leave at age 17. It does have all the benefits that he mentioned, but largely, the city is known to be a city of ‘the nearly wed or nearly dead’. If you are of the faithful you will love it there. There are 3 major Bible belts that converge in Lethbridge (Catholics, subsets of Christianity and Mormons). Thus making Lethbridge one of the most conservative places I’ve seen. If you are anti-vaxx, a Trumper or believer in the literal interpretation of Revelations, you will enjoy living in Lethbridge. That being said, there is a large population of ‘moderate’ Christians to balance out against the more fire n’ brimstone citizens. There is a very large homeless population and I’ve only seen it get worse over the years. Most homeless populations are centered in cities around their downtown and this was largely the case growing up. My last few visits to the City I saw plenty of homeless and the problems that come with homelessness go far beyond downtown Lethbridge’s boundaries.

My wife moved here from London Uk and loves it here. We just had a kid and couldn’t imagine raising him is such a busy city. Life is slower here but it’s great. We are able to save money and go travel much more easily. NYC is on our list!

@@gtronable there are a couple. I’ve seen 1 bed apartments on the north side for sale for 100k-150k. So you could buy one for only 5000-7500 down payment

Well, both cities have their pros and cons. Calgary is gonna be more expensive for rent but they have better public transportation than Lethbridge. Job market is probably pretty similar for a part-time job for a student.

We have no forest immediately around us so there is low risk of wildfires, all of Lethbridge’s residential homes are 100m above the river level so no chance of flooding and there is 0 chance of hurricanes here.

Mountains are 1 hour 30 mins from Lethbridge. There are some big hills within the city but not for skiing

Temporary residents, those on valid study or work permits, are still eligible to purchase a home in Canada. Or once you have your PR (permanent residence) You are able to buy a home. When are you coming to Canada?

Lethbridge had some of the worst crime stats on the national index, at some point even being the #1 worst in canada. Its still up there, but its been declining over time, so im assuming theyre doing something about it, unlike vancouver and toronto

There are many different jobs in Lethbridge. I don’t deal with rental properties. Just buying and selling homes here in Lethbridge. There are a couple companies that do rentals here or you can find a place privately on fb marketplace

Our unemployment rate is really low around 5% so the vast majority of people that are looking for a job are finding them. The Canadian average is 5.5% so statistically you are more likely to find a job here but just marginally.

I've lived here for my entire life, the drug problems here are out of control, the entire downtown area is flooded with homeless drug addicts that all hang out at our very own tent city in the summer. Yeah, i would say its generally safe if you stay out of the downtown area at night. Just the other day i saw a guy going number 2 in a bush right on 6th ave.

There was no tent city last summer it was only during Covid. Have you been attacked downtown or do you feel uncomfortable because that is where homelessness is most on display? @@LivingInLethbridge are you joking? There 100% is and has been a tent city every year since the first one went up. I talk like a local, you talk like a guy who wants peoples money. I've been in many fights downtown, one of which i ended up with a nice little stab wound in my leg. And to answer your question i have been taking care of a disabled family member for most of my life while barely making ends meet in our so called "affordable" city. Should we talk about how for years our mayor happily provided the tools for drug addicts to continue their drug use, resulting in parks becoming unsafe for children? Don't try to tell me i didn't pick up dirty needles every single day for 2 years in my own yard. Be honest in your videos, thats all i'm saying.

The tent city that I was referring to was the one by the civic centre that was there from summer 2021 until august 2022 and hasn't returned. In the video, I am simply highlighting what I love about the city to help people make a decision on whether Lethbridge could be the place for them. Find me a city in Canada that doesn't have drug problems in the downtown core. That is amazing that you are able to not only take care of yourself, but also a disabled family member. Lots of people across Canada are struggling just to take care of themselves. No matter where people live their perception of the same place will be slightly different based on their own experiences - in my videos, I talk about how the majority of people including myself feel about Lethbridge.

3:22 You can see that 77% of our population is of European descent what I don't show in the video is that in 2001 that number was 90%! Lethbridge has changed a lot in the last 20 years and continues to get more diverse. As for Mormons, they make up only 5.8% of our population.

As a cis white male I don't think I have the authority to talk on the subject. What I will say is that there are far-right people all over the country as well as far-left people. Lethbridge is no exception. Lethbridge's population has more than doubled in my lifetime and it will continue to grow and change as time goes on(hopefully for the better😃).

They all have no problem lying if they think it furthers their causes. Here are the actual homicide rates in select cities per 100,000 for 2022: Vancouver 2.57; Lethbridge 2.28; Toronto 2.25; Calgary 1.80; Victoria 1.18. Source is Statistics Canada. It’s amazing how we can think something is true when it actually has no basis in reality.
