Madrid have become expensier since I lived there in the 70's and visit every year including last June and back next Dec24. The cities around it are cheaper and easy transport if without a car. Of course if coming from outside with 3k per month single person you will be in heavens. Cheers

Hi there, It's true, Madrid has seen significant changes over the decades, and the cost of living has certainly increased since the 70s. It’s great that you still get to visit regularly and can observe these changes firsthand. The surrounding cities do indeed offer a more affordable alternative while still providing convenient access to Madrid via public transportation. Thanks for sharing!

We are expatriates in the sense that we choose to leave our native country, we are, from your perspective, immigrants because we choose to live elsewhere from our native country. Semantics…..

Una pregunta, por qué si ustedes vienen a España son expatriados y si yo voy a EEUU soy inmigrante? No les parece muy arrogante? One question, why if you come to Spain are you expatriates and if I go to the US am I an immigrant? Doesn't that seem very arrogant to you?

Hello, Thanks for reaching out. We understand where you’re coming from and that not everyone will agree with our use of the term “expat”. We use “expat” to refer to any person who chooses to live outside their native country, often on a temporary basis. Regardless of the name, at InterNations, we welcome everyone who lives an international life.
