Only a few minutes in but I have to say (as a Californian) I'm obsessed with these fun layouts in the apartments!! Everything here is so bland and square, I'm obsessed with all of the character.

Yay!!! Yeah it’s so old here that it takes some eyes to really give it a look haha! But do know there are also awful modern type structures as well in replace of all the history :-( 💔

Obsessed over the stone wall accents in the first house tbh & glad doing the house hunting again!

lol born and raised there, and leaving 8 years ago was the best thing I’d ever done. Be safe

That makes sense honestly - at this point, I’ve given up on my desire to be in Philly. Where’d you end up if you don’t mind me asking?

As a Philadelphia native.. my suggestion to New Yorkers is for the prices you’ll pay to live in the “cool” areas near downtown and such… you should look in Northeast Philly… You’ll get the space you are seeking for less. Everything bad about Philly I will not deny but it’s the energy and vibe of Philly that will grow and seep into your bones.

I just got a job around Philly and moving in April! any advice on where to look, these spaces are so cozy

The only advice I truthfully have is look/view as many as you can!! Write to everyone no matter if you love it bc majority of the agents don’t even write you back! It’s a process for sure but there’s soo many places and I hope you find a perfect one :) Gives you more options that way 🖤

Philly resident here. I'd say first figure out what neighborhood(s) you want to live in, then make a list of the apartments in that area you want to look at, and score the features and amenities that matter most to you. Eliminate any that have horrible reviews. I think you'll find that pricing can vary wildly and you can score a great deal based on your personal preference. I've lived in six different apartments in and around Center City and generally toured an average of five places before making a decision.

Would you be renting? I love the exposed brick vibe and all of that! You have great taste!!

Yes, renting! Thank you!

There’s ALOT of row homes for rent in Philly. You have space and privacy. I have a 2 bedroom row home with a backyard and basement for 1000 a month. Grayish hardwood floors, white walls, nice kitchen, nice backyard and 2 big bedrooms. I’m telling you, you can find a very nice house instead of an apartment FOR THE SAME PRICE !!!

I noticed that as soon as I switched gears on my brain a little bit. I always had the thing set to “apartments for rent” instead of houses/townhomes and I actually ended up looking at a few! I liked one or two a lot but my priorities sorta changed but I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your advice and words. It means a lot to read thru comments like this that are helpful and sincere 🤍🤍
