Hi there. :) Make no mistake, Covilhã can be pretty hot in the summer. as it's very deeply inland the climate/weather tends to be dry and really hot throughout the summer months. I'd say temperatures in the mid 30s (and sometimes higher) are to be expected for an extended number of days.
@BecomingPortuguese Жыл бұрын
Agreed, we’re not expecting no heat :) but it’s certainly cooler than some other parts of Portugal because of the altitude. Tomar and those areas are consistently hotter and similar to where we moved from, so we wanted to avoid 40 and above temps. Thanks for watching!
@mujimax00726 күн бұрын
No worries. This much temperature is very easily bearable for us Pakistani who face the summer over 45 C to 50C in most parts of Pakistan.

I have yet to visit covilha , it looks amazing! We had the same reaction when we first encountered Figuerio dos Vinosh, we knew that was where we wanted to be. We bought our portugal home on our first visit. We are fortunate to have made that purchase and have never regretted it. We are in a small village near the A13 toll road, with beautiful views, no traffic, and no litter. Best of all is the amazing welcoming people. I’m sure you will enjoy life in this wonderful country.

Hi Robert and Kim. I really enjoyed your videos. I have watched 2 so far and they are soo informative and entertaining. I am in Arizona and contemplating if I can move to Portugal so I was excited to see your friend find a place in Belmonte. I look forward to more of your videos. Great story and video. Loved how you blended in your clips with Google Earth, videos and background music. Very well done. 👍🏻 Also loved how you found your dream apartment just by talking to locals and your airbnb owner! Had a similar thought during our trip which ended a few weeks ago but honestly, we have to determine where our son can live first and then focus on that (or those) locations and replicate what you did. Overall this video was helpful for us. 🙏🏻 Looking forward to future content. Obrigado.

Hi! First of all, welcome to Portugal! I don't want do discourage you, but Covilhã gets really, really hot during the summer. (my family is from Covilhã, on the paternal side), It is as hot as Tomar. The main difference is that you can escape to the Serra da Estrela. In august 2018 it was 42 in Covilhã but 32 in Covão d'Ametade and, I suspect, it would be even cooler right at the top. So, whenever in trouble with the heat, climb the mountain!
@BecomingPortuguese Жыл бұрын
Great advice, thanks! We also sometimes have to work in Ireland, so perhaps the peak of summer is the time to be there :)
@SusanaTorrao Жыл бұрын
@@BecomingPortuguese I would do that! (but I hate the heat and love Ireland, so... ).

I would suggest you two talk to Joseph, who has a youtube channel by the name "Farmer For Fun", and Ken, who has a channel "OK Portugal". Both have chosen Portugal as their residence and now helping others by showing some great properties. They aren't estate dealers, and Joseph mostly shows properties from around his neighborhood. Ken does some freelance work for clients in the way that they ask him to go and visit places in which they are interested, and he sends them a complete video tour of the property, which help them to shortlist properties to visit. Oh, and they usually cover Central Portugal, Joseph almost exclusively covers the area around Fundao where he resides, and Ken around Central Portugal. Another such resource is Nick with his channel "Destino Portugal". Don't complaint please, you said you like to do research :)

Yes we follow all those channels and will be happy to reach out to them when we are ready to buy. And thanks to lots of research we were able to find a perfect rental for us 😍, as shown in the video. Thanks for your suggestions and for watching!

Good morning from Washington state folks, I'm watching your videos on my smart TV, I'm thinking about moving to Portugal as well, I'm looking the house, but D7 visa required $200000+ I think I sell my house first before hunting house,my income is not enough to move but I will visit the Portugal first how it looks like, thanks for sharing and good luck to your future and have a wonderful day and takecare, talk to you later bye-bye. 👍 🙏🙏
@BecomingPortuguese Жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching. Visiting first is for sure a great idea. There are so many cities, towns and villages that are great options! I think you’re thinking of their Golden Visa, but that has ended and they’re no longer accepting applications for that one. We will soon do a video on the visa options, but here’s some a quick info: For the D7 you need a Portuguese bank account with the equivalent to 12 months of their minimum wage deposited is required (which is currently €9160 total) plus at least their minimum wage in passive income, which is €760. Passive means retirements, royalties, or distributions from investments, etc. There’s also the new digital nomad visa, which allows income from remote work (outside of Portugal), but the minimum monthly income is €3000. Hope you enjoy a visit for your own house hunting!!

Welcome to Covilhã!! You chose almost the worst sounds for a foreigner: "lh" which is equivalent to the "ll" of Spanish, like in Sevilla (in fact so difficult that in south america it became "Sevidja". And the "ã"! Start by saying 'an' like in Kardashian. Or Magellan, whose real name is Magalhães. Well, it could be worse: You could end up in Guimarães...
