Life must of gotten too busy to post anything in the last year. Bummer. Guess I’ll unsubscribe since nothing is happening.

I was just in Lisbon, Porto and combria 3 months ago and also felt Lisbon was not as expected as far as wanting to live there. I’m from San Francisco so though I love SF, Lisbon felt basically the same. I actually liked Combria the best. I’m headed back in May to do exactly what you guys did. Though I plan to see the Algarve and over to Seville Spain, stopping in all the villages to see if I can find my spot. I love that your location isnt that far to the ocean when you want it. Great video!

We realized that our Portuguese neighbors didn’t realize that we were American, they assumed we were from the UK. Evidently they could not differentiate the accents.

At 6:50 that is an amazing church, I visited 3 times before I realized that for €4 you can access the entire building. Anybody visiting Coimbra, this is a must.

I lived and taught English ( my husband was a photographer) in the late 70’s there. First child was born there as well in the local hospital. ! Oh the memories!! I still miss the pastéis de bacalhau , grilled sardines and especially the warmed pastéis de nata tarts. If you ever are brave enough to try making the football like cod tarts make sure you soak the dried cod really well to soften and get rid of the abundant salt. Ours turned out inedible as the salt mostly remained!!!😅 After two years we moved down to Sintra and then Carcavelos, but Covilha still visits me in dreams. Hope to return in the next couple years.

I'm English and have visited Covilhã a few times (actually based in Boidobra a parish just outside the city proper) Covilhã is a wonderful place where I felt completely at ease and I loved the mix of modern and old architecture which blends together really well. The mountains provide an impressive backdrop and People were very welcoming and laid back. Food was fantastic. The culture enticing and the history intriguing. For any estrangeiros (foreigners) who are thinking of visiting Portugal, just go. You will not regret it. The country has an ambience that you will love. Once you've been once you will return.

My father was born in Lousa, and I visited every summer. Why are you filming it. Are you trying to promote it because you are a foreigner trying to make a profit? Leave Lousa for real Portuguese people. We don’t need greedy foreigners destroying our home.

Great reasons to move to Portugal. But reason 5 is something that I still don't understand in this movement of foreigners moving to Portugal. Don't get me wrong, a stone house can be beautiful and super cozy, but renovating one is normally a nightmare and costs the price of a brand new, modern one. But I know it's your dream and I can only say one thing. Go for it! Good luck.

Glad to see your last reply here. We understand, work and settling down in a new country takes a lot of energy. Keep at it. If you're having "portuguese problems" aka crazy bureaucracy, you can post your questions here and someone will have a solution. Don't give up...! It'll get better and soon you'll feel you've become portuguese! ❤💛💚
