i survived my first week in Seoul! 😭🥳🌦
- i think that sentence alone could be the highlight of this video... it's just that, things were not as smooth as i expected, and even after so many preparations + research, i still felt so overwhelmed. but as my closest ones kept saying, i shouldn't be too hard on myself and take my time instead.
and guess what... leaving Hong Kong didn't make me 100% happy (like, i didn't have a yay-finally-im-out moment). not gonna lie i found myself missing my HK life so often :') but i guess it's just part of me transitioning to a new environment.
so for now, i'll move forward and live my Seoul life to the fullest - despite the difficult situations, awkward moments for not speaking fluent Korean, and busy school life... i fully realized how blessed i am to be here. and in between, i will keep missing Hong Kong & my family there (and in Indo)!
lastly, i've received so many messages from some of you, wishing me luck & sharing my happiness - i couldn't be more thankful :') all love guys!
Sheren
ps: shoutout to my HK fam (daz stef sunz jens xel) for helping me & sending me off, and to the ones on the other side of the world (tin & man) for being there even from miles away. lov u guys sm :(

Really Welcome to my country , Seoul , South Korea ^^~ ♥ ~ In particular, Seoul, especially in Seoul, there are quite a lot of places that are less known to Koreans in the world. => Seoul's unique and beautiful night view, which is the only one on KZbin that has been described in 14 languages

If you want a short getaway from the city, go for a one day trip to Suwon! It only takes about 30 minutes from Seoul station. I had a great time visiting Hwaseong Haenggung Palace (you can rent pretty hanbok and take cute pics :3!), Hwaseong Fortress, and the Museum of Art. There are so many nice cafes as well! Have a nice journey in Korea~

I cheer your boldness to move to a different country and start new. The feelings you have are natural. It can be overwhelming and everyone coming to Korea experiences it. Those feelings will subside in time and remember, your Korean experience is what you make of it. I wish you luck and hope you have a wonderful chapter.

Hey I just found your video, as I moved to Busan, South Korea 6 days ago to teach English. Hearing how you were feeling has helped me because I feel like these last 6 days have been some of the craziest most emotional and stressful days I've ever been through. I have friends, family and a boyfriend back home in the UK but I wanted to make a change in my life and push myself to move out somewhere on my own. Getting here I'm questioning if this was the right decision, if I should go home, and if I will be happy here. So thankyou for sharing your journey, I'm going to keep watching your other vlogs to see if things get easier for you and I really hope they do! I hope they get easier for me too.

thanks for sharing, Lydia! and kudos to you for moving to somewhere on the other side, to start a new journey :) for me, life is definitely getting better but not gonna lie, there are some moments that i've also questioned the same (mostly, why am i here) - but most of the time, i'm glad i took the chance to live here. i hope you've been doing ok these days and that things get easier for you! take careee! ps - i will visit Busan in less than 2 weeks actually!!! so excited hahahaa

I'm just an old, disabled grandma who enjoys watching young people living in Korea, something I, at your age, would never have had the confidence to do. Hi Sher, I have been watching your video for a long time, I think since 2 years ago back in 2021. But life gets me and I kind of forget about your vids and now I am planning a vacation to HK and I remember you. But WOW I am so surprised that you have moved out and start new in SK. Now I've been watching your video since an hour ago and finally decided to subscribe to your channel so I won't be missing out lol. Funny thing is yeah I could relate a lot to your thoughts at your birthday video, especially the "be kinder to your mind/self" message. And the funnier thing is that I've been thinking to move out from Indo and start new somewhere else more often these days, and Seoul is the one place that keeps popping out in my brain and you moved there! And I am even more surprised you take the MBA program at SNU. I know MBA is one of the hardest program to get into, I myself wanna get an MBA but apparently I gave up on it long ago lol. If you don't mind to share, is the MBA program in SK is "relatively" easier to get into vs MBA in the US? And how about the cost and the scholarships? Probably I will do some searching after I post this comment (because as of now I genuinely have no idea lol) but I hope you wouldn't mind to share your experience! Thanks Sher and good luck for your next chapter and I hope it will be fulfilled by more better things than worse!
@sherendev
@sherendev Жыл бұрын
omg hi and thank you for writing this to me :') yeah it's been quite a journey, right... 5 months now and i'm still missing HK life. moving to a new place is really difficult because once again we're forced to adapt & adjust, but if you have a chance or are thinking about it, i think it'll be one of the best ways to grow & learn (about ourselves!). :D for the MBA, yeah tbh i think it's relatively easier compared to USA or Canada univs because GMAT is optional for the application here. Other than that, i just relied completely on my CV, personal statement and transcript (though i dont think undergrad transcript matters). I applied for the scholarship directly to SNU biz school, but i heard the Korean Govt also provides scholarship quotas (just that it's very competitive). hope it helps and if you still wanna ask some Qs, pls feel free! :D ps: thank you again for writing this to me, i'd always love it when someone takes the time to write a comment like this hehe :3 you take care!

hi, this is the first time i'm watching a video of yours and i really enjoyed it! a question popped into my head though... i'm not sure what nationality you are, and i'm not meaning to sound insensitive when i generalize and say you're east asian looking / could be "korean passing" (but you're obviously not korean), and are not fluent in korean. do the people you talk to in korean understand you're a foreigner and tell you things like "wow you're korean is so good" like they would tell a white/black person speaking korean? or are they assuming you're able to speak korean based on your looks? i probably phrased this awfully but hope you can understand what i mean ._.
@sherendev
@sherendev Жыл бұрын
hellooo thank you and nice to e-meet you! i got what you meant, don't worry :) so actually people would talk to me in korean first, then i'd reply in korean if i can (ie. simple phrases like, do you need a plastic bag; to go or eat here). if it requires a legit conversation, i'd usually try to speak in broken korean LOL and explain that i'm not fluent yet; then they'd say "한국어 잘 하시네!" (your korean is good). so yeah they will assume i can speak the language at first, it's similar to when i lived in HK too, they just straight up spoke to me in cantonese hahaha

While in Korea, you should visit Panmunjom Joint Security Area of the DMZ, where you can see North Korea. Let me know how it is South Korea 🇰🇷 🇰🇵

If I’m not mistaken the Global MBA does not require TOPIK 6 level right ? I’m thinking to apply as well ! Hope to see you there !

Hi, I met your channel by chance and feel you may have some difficulty to adjust to life in Seoul. Living alone as foreigner in unfamiliar city is not easy till you make a new friend in your school life. If you allow me to be your friend for a while until you get your new friend, I would like to help your adjustment in Korea on line or offline. I am not fluent in English and just use it as second language but I could help you as your interpreter when you need in daily life. Of course, there is nothing for you to pay or compensate for my time. Whatever you believe or not, I mean it. If you don’t want, I will remain as one of your introverted subscriber. Hope you enjoy peaceful and happy life in Seoul.
