[EDIT] + ACC presents... Moving to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador! The story of Rocket Cafe's Kelly Mansell.
Kelly Mansell moved from Toronto where she worked for Pepsi Co. when her friend (and now business partner), told her about the opportunity to open an exciting new business. Kelly and her husband picked up and moved their family to Newfoundland and Labrador. Since opening, Rocket Cafe and Bakery has become a much loved staple of the city and has focused on supporting the community, featuring as many local products as possible, and has expanded to three locations. They have also recently partnered with local grocery stores Belbin's and Coleman’s, where they will now have some of their famous baked goods sold. She loves her new life and encourages others to leave big cities and move to Atlantic Canada where the support for entrepreneurs starting new businesses is overwhelmingly positive.
In this film and accompanying magazine feature, Kelly shares how she was welcomed here, the ways in which the Atlantic Canadian business community supported her and why she loves her new life here so much.

Sounds like Newfoundland people really love you guys. Wanna know why? Because you love them back and fit in with their culture with no preconditions. Especially coming from Toronto. Great video.

Have to say, I miss The Rock. I have been out west here in Surrey BC for 22 years and only back 4 brief times prior to the pandemic. I would love to try your bakery. I bet my cousins are regular customers of yours.

Unless you have been, it might look that way. Once you are there, you will realize there is “something”. I would even say, from experience, that people not from Newfoundland that have lived there for a length of time, is under Newfoundland’s spell and has that “something”.
