Sir, After i complete my ms gen surg in India and mrcs....is it very hard to get into st3 of general and vascular surgery in the uk...the competition ratio is around 4-5...there are around 123 spots and 500 applications....what wil be the main hindrances ...i saw you mentioning many times that st3 is very difficult..can u plss elaborate
@SumanPaulDoc

Competition ratio of 4-5 is quite competitive. The main difficulty is that IMGs won't be able to compete with local graduates in the application. They will score less in pre application scoring and commitment to specialty.

Hello sir, I completed MS Orthopaedics from a reputed govt college in Delhi in 2020. Currently working as a senior resident. I just have one publication. I am really confused whether I should go for USMLE Or MRCS (UK). Eventually, my goal is to gain good experience from abroad and settle there if the earning and other factors remain stable. At the same time, I don't want to hustle much into the financial expenditure and the preparation part as well, because I have to support my family financially. Please suggest the best way and how to begin at the earliest.

lets say- i did ms surgery in india, now i did mrcs 1,2 and move to uk. Now- - - i am in ST 3? if yes- it must be in ss directly. right?? please explain if it can be in urology or not. btw:--- if i preferred plab 1/2- i had to do fy2 and ct 1/2/3 and then i would have gotten sx degree and then would have started st 1. i think getting ms sx in india and then moving to uk is better option as it saves my year/2 as well.
@SumanPaulDoc
@SumanPaulDoc Жыл бұрын
1. Your job description will be ST3 based on your previous experience, but you are not in a training programme so not in SS. Of course, you can get into non-training posts in urology after MRCS. 2. You don't need FY2 after PLAB. Most doctors will work in some SHO posts, get their CREST form signed, and then apply for Core surgical training. This will save you more time compared to MS and more options to actually enter training rather than spending years waiting to get into training.

Hello suman sir …….i read many replies of your ….somewhere you mentioned - “if you are a MS passout from india , you have to apply for ST3 , not CT1. Which is extremely difficult “. You mean , getting into a training ST3 post is difficult right ? If that’s so , what are the scopes for a MS passout and how one can improve his CV being MS passout from india? also , i have heard from my peers , in general all the surgical branches are extremely difficult to get into in UK because of competition from UK graduates and recruitment bodies favouring UK passout above IMGs….is there any truth to this?
@SumanPaulDoc
@SumanPaulDoc Жыл бұрын
I don't think there is much scope for career progression in surgical fields in the UK now. It's extremely competitive to enter training so chances are slim as an IMG. Only reasonable option is to work in a non training job, learn some advanced skills and return back to India
