Garden Art, A Piece at A Time

Today we throw a wrinkle in the way I think of gardening. I wanted to turn an area that had lost its luster, into a piece of art. And of course, topping the entire project off with some beautiful Coral Bells. Solomon Seal and ferns. Come along as we add a touch of spice to a bland palate.

Very beautiful! Add door hinges to your round door. This will add credibility. And you can also put a lantern next to it, as if a small resident went out at night to see what was going on and forgot it at the entrance.

To go along with the Hobbit door, maybe you could include some whimsical mushrooms in the planters. Keep the sun!! It looks great.

My husband is installing a garden train throughout our gardens. He's building bridges both open and covered and it will travel over and through our water features, 2 ponds connected by rambling creeks. I've been blown away at his creativity. One caveat, he's been in construction since he was 15, he's 69. Watching this creation come together made me think how unbelievably creative you are too!! I enjoyed what you created and I don't think I'd change a thing. I loved the plantings and always find your combinations so pleasing! Keep up the good work!

I love the whole yard and all the whimsy and textures you have incorporated! What an artist you are, my old home we sold I also had colorful balls mingled in the garden, people thought I was nuts till they seen how it all fit it, I bought bowling balls from good will, painted them various colors and posted them on rebar stakes at different levels, 😛 I’m always checking in on your you tube channel, you are an inspiration to us !

It looks FANTASTIC! The sun anchor it. I would put some type of solar light just under the roof part to light up the door at night. Otherwise, it is perfect.

I agree that you should put hinges on the right side so that it actually looks like a door that could open. Other than that I think it's awesome! I have no doubt that the planters will come out looking stunning like everything you do. You're an inspiration. And please don't apologize for not knowing everything about everything in the garden. You're creating a magical, wonderful place. It doesn't matter how much you know as long as long as it makes you happy.

Fab!! I'd put one bowl on either side of the Door and fill them with some of the plants. Or take out some of the plants and fill bowls with Impatiens that like shade. I like the Sun and your whole idea!!

This is the first time I’ve seen your garden. I love all the different rooms created throughout. That takes years of growth. Another winner for your garden! Reminds me of the Chinese gong chimes. It has an Asian flare, and all the coral bells stand out and look amazing! Keep your tremendous juices flowing in creativity! Keep the sun on there, kind of matches your other garden door sun. You've got a theme going. In the empty spot to the right of your new sun art, you could place a stone Japanese lantern statue. Then put a ground cover around it.

Your creativity is amazing...love the door, but not sure about the sun. How about a knocker? Also just a suggestion, how about hostas there in your bare spots...most of them love shade and some get huge. A bright pop of lime green would be awesome. Love what you do either way!
