Being in the theatre in Verona expecting a night of Turandot, once in a while, people in the audiance stood up and startet singing arias ... Getting rounds of applause. Opera is their! music, it is in the heart of the italian people .. Pavarotti singing together with Sheryl Crow captures this perfectly ... The first time I listened to the recording I did not realize, who was singing. Now it is one of my favorite recordings of this Duett❤

Bags of kudos to Sheryl Crow for doing this. People don't realize the breathing control and vocal cord power of an opera soprano. Though she might not have the power and control of, say, Cecilia Bartoli (also here on KZbin), she has a beautifully sweet voice and a lovely and delicate appearance that is perfect for pretty young Zerlina. I really enjoyed it, and I suspect Luciano did too (the naughty boy!).

She did a great job. As a rock artist she is an alto so she got out of her own range and style. And she sang it correctly if not perfectly....that is she did not scoop her notes etc, and otherwise apply pop techniques to this classical piece...she sang it as written. And memorized it?? It was a solid performance.

This is the proof of how a pop singer can't just sing opera like that. I think I just know one of her songs or so. I know for technique she's far from it since for learning how to sing bel canto it takes years but why nobody corrected her pronunciation and Tempo, and also she didn't learned the lyrics properly😭 it hurts. I know many people are saying "woah iT tAKeS CoUrAGe" to sing something like that which I agree, singing takes a lot of courage but these type of colabs should be illegal if they can't give to the Pop singer at least a proper way of how to sing these type of arias, is like telling an anesthesiologist to perform a heart surgery, not the same! Also at 2:03 she has to say "Presto... ,non son più forte, non son più forte, non son più forte" and shes mumbling something random. And btw singing an aria is a whole workout and not easy at all so I wouldn't recommend to mess with them if you don't have any idea of what you are getting into.

In order to perpetuate the myth of Mozart, Soler should be banished from music history. With Soler you have the "optimal" number of notes; with A. Mozart you always have "too many notes". The representatives of music turned a deaf ear when Mozart said "Bravo - Una cosa rara" in "Don Giovanni"; they should have explained to us, presented, why Mozart said that. Instead, they forgot Soler's operas. 1786, 1787 Mozart and Salieri did went bankrupt, their operas were performed only 2 times each; Soler came and cleaned them with a broom, his operas were performed 100 times in 19 countries, translated into 9 languages. You know, Pavarotti was a really legendary singer, but he couldn't read music, he used to learn opera by heart with Leone Magiera's help, orchestra director and husband, at that time ex , of Mirella Freni, Pavarotti's partner in many performances. When they started these experiments, Pavarotti and friends, big Luciano had stopped singing operas and he wanted to stay famous for a while more, so he tried to cross over genres, which wouldn't have so vocally demanding, like opera, but he found it hard to cope musically, because he couldn't remember his part in a short time anymore, so he brought Magiera, who suggested him every little word, attack and shade, that's why he couldn't look at his partners, he was too busy to look at his director
