The beauty of man resides in the soul, along with music, and the beauty of music comes out of the soul..!!

This is wonderful, and I thoroughly enjoy it. But I have a question, as a purely novice listener that I'd like to ask. Is it a trait of 21st-century audio recording that we now hear the performer moaning and groaning through the performance? This seems especially pronounced these days, in piano performance, with frequent inclusions of pedal noise and/or squeaking benches. Was this filtered out in the past? I'm no afficionado, but I find the extraneous noises distracting. Is this an important element of the performance that I should learn to respect and value?

I'd say it's really up to your liking. But what would Glenn Gould's performances be without the hums?
@annamariaisland19602 ай бұрын
It certainly bothers me, and I would say it might be easy for the audio engineer to eliminate it. But then I don't like the extreme closeups either! When Glenn Gould was still alive, he was regularly roasted by classical music reviewers for his unintentional "song-cycles."
