This was absolutely amazing to watch. The dialogue between the players was both well rehearsed and hilarious (making faces as you pass along the melody? oh you lovable jerks!), and I loved watching Mr. Daniel turn into a sass-master throughout the rondo, with Mr. O'Neill egging him on. Just a visual delight. And then the sound! My gods, that is everything an oboe should be and it blended perfectly with the strings. This recording does amazing justice to the composition and they are clearly having a blast, which is what Mozart would have wanted.

A nice acoustical environment to play oboe with a small chamber group in. I did see Alan Vogel perform this once. His high F did not speak that clearly on one occasion. Superior performers.

The oboist is beet-red, looks like he's putting himself at risk for a stroke.

Don’t you worry about MY health, just enjoy the music! Oboe has quite a lot of resistance and on a warm night under lights one can can look a little red. I’m fine.
