@@RaineriHakkarainen As Mark said - Perahia is the best. I would add "ever". This is just for *me* . For you, not so much. Remember, tastes in musical performance are comparable to tastes in wine. As long as the basic product isn't flawed, there is a wide range of "what's best" among educated listeners.

As for the cadenzas: Perahia uses as much Mozart cadenzas as are available. If there aren't any, he uses the ones written by other composers (there is for instance at least a Beethoven and a Hummel cadenza, and if those are lacking he uses the ones of other great pianists (for example one of Serkin) and at last cadenzas of his own. This guy is not only a fantastic Mozart piano concerto performer, but also very honest and humble. Hats off for Murray!

@TehKaiser
@TehKaiser 5 жыл бұрын
His cadenza is terribly unmusical. There is NO END to the sound when in the main piece, Mozart always composes "breaks" for the listener to take in before making transitions. Emulating Mozart usually winds up in disaster because you've got performers with little sense of composition making up stuff.

yes, why not reuse great themes? All of them composers did. But this was very brief. One of these Mozart piano concertos actually opens with a whole famous sections from one of his operas or symphonies, don't remember which.
@MaestroTJS
@MaestroTJS 8 жыл бұрын
Well, this is Mozart. Similar themes pop up all over the place. But who could possibly blame him? Look at the speed at which he worked, the fact that these pieces probably were only heard a few times (if THAT), and the huge volume of music he wrote. I'd reuse even more because I doubt I could be creative enough to keep coming out with so many fantastic motives and melodies. The second theme (which follows the minor mode section you are talking about) is similar to the second theme in his Third Horn Concerto.
@Qee7en
@Qee7en 8 жыл бұрын
Actually it's the other way around, this was written before his 40th Symphony... but other than that, listen closer, the progression in the second part of the theme isn't exactly the same.

After much searching, at last, a serving of the opening of the 2nd movement that is not entirely like a timid cat coming in through its cat-flap, or antiseptic cream issuing from a tube...each note stands alone at least with some ring to it. Ironical, that this interpretation comes in after an orchestral introduction intended for a funeral. I can't be the only one who feels that the notes imply a fresh, optimistic, joyous beginning - that should ring out -?
