The lightness of touch, in no way superficial, with such composure and elegance of play, founded in mutual trust and understanding between the players, all under laid by keen feeling for and devotion to the music, generates, stimulates a sublime performance.

Sublime work by the great composer. These young ladies have the necessary musical skills to succeed in this competitive field. I have the complete piano trios performed with musical instruments of the time (piano forte and 18th century violin and cello). Magnificently unique.
@75Chopin7 жыл бұрын
the period performance does bring out the cello more as the piano sound is less thick, though the cantabile quality of the piano sound can be more difficult to bring out with a fortepiano. But overall balance would be much better with period performance, as the modern piano sounds too dominant with modern setup. Though expert do say that well tempered tuning of the piano may help in bringing more clarity and resonance, even in a more modern piano.

This is a wonderful performance. It's too bad the sound engineer didn't consider the terrific cellist important enough to bring out her playing equally with the marvelous pianist and violinist. With Mozart's music every instrumental part is of great significance. I have to give the sound engineer a demerit. Is that Mozart I hear growling in heaven about this engineer? Remember, today a trio is a quartet.

@ Peter Stephenson Are you implying some kind of racism? I don't get that. The pianist looks at the cellist many times. Perhaps you're not paying attention. 0:53 1:32 2:00 2:54 2:59 to 3:25 4:44 to 4:55 5:50 etc That's just the first movement. The cellist is less accessible. The violinist has her head and upper body turned toward the pianist more than the cellist, whose whole body is facing away from the pianist and also has less freedom to move because she's not holding her instrument like the violinist. True the pianist looks at the violinist more than the cellist. But she isn't ignoring the cellist. It's just a matter of seating positions.
@peterstephenson56308 жыл бұрын
+flyfishingpianist That's a fair point.

Humans can better distinguish conflicting sounds when looking specifically at one sound source. We all use it to listen to one person in a crowded room so I'm not surprised that this happens when musical synchonism is needed.

Such a shocking masterpiece. Thanks for sharing. I would have liked to have seen much less of the pianist looking at the violinist. It is too much. I understand the need for communicative glances, but excessive movement never yields secure playing, as evidenced by the pianist's several significant note mistakes. If she focused more on her playing and less on motions and turning out, she probably wouldn't have made those obvious errors, at 1:42 and 7:49 for example. I wonder if a teacher told them to make these movements and glances. Cellist is fine though. She is basically still and focused. PS. You should indicate the key as G MAJOR, not just "G." G is a pitch, not a key. People should really specify minor or major. This isn't analysis class where we use upper and lower case for such a purpose. We are stating the key of the piece. Yes I realize some people think it IMPLIES major if no qualifier is present, but it's just not right.
