Mozart: Sinfonia concertante in E-flat major, K. 364/320d (with Score)

One of my favourite Mozart pieces. The interplay between the soloists is warm and lively, the themes are exquisite and the compositional solidity never prevents emotions from pouring out. And I've always loved the scale at 1:26!

The reason solo viola is in different key signature is that the composer intended to produce brighter sound of viola by tuning the instrument one pitch higher. As violas are quite hard(almost impossible) to play in its original size, their strings are thicker, and more rigid. And Mozart wanted to break those instrument’s limit.

Nope, it’s totally normal to play in the key of Eb on a viola, unless you have an UN-resonant instrument, that is. Buy a better viola! Your statement is completely wrong.
