In my opinion---all Mozart's mature quartets are the most beautiful quartets ever composed...and the daring slow opening of this quartet is looking 100 years forward...great performance, playing fast with energy and without much vibrato.

I was learning this with my friends in music college for the last two months and that was the best time I ever had studying here. We didn't know each other before but communication between us while playing made us think that we were besties even before we were born. Completely different feelings than sitting in orchestra or playing solo

That minor key introduction is probably my favorite part of the quartet if I’m being honest, but the rest of it is great too.

still messes me up that the opening sounds shostakovich-y and also the DSCH motif being there too at 0:59. it's like mozart time traveled or something

Magnificent. I first heard this quartet in college. The musician in residence at my dormitory played a record of it and I heard the beginning of the piece. Arnold Schoenberg maybe. No. The piece revealed itself to be Mozart. Astonishing.

My teacher assigned us quarters and I came to listen to ours. At first, I didn't like the idea of this piece. Mozart isn't my absolute favorite compared to other composers and neither is C Major. BUT when I listened to the minor opening I was immediately on board with it! Your quartet did absolutely beautifully!

I disagree with you. Most people - who are people - enjoy music like this. All “serious” music has always been confined to the few. Mozart churned out lots of “rubbish” for entertainment’s sake. All composers did (and do). He also produced remarkable work like this - work that challenges and rewards the listener who knows how to hear.
