I bought the kit. I'm not on your level of building models. I am getting back into the hobby. I used to build models when I was in high school. Looking forward to putting this one together. I bought a wired distributor and I'm going to try to put spark plug wires on the motor. I'll do that before installing the motor in the car. I'm also going to do a different hood treatment, using the "curved" hood decals and some gloss spray paint. Thanks for your review and assembly of this kit.

I just love your builds Raoul. You're right, that color really does 'pop' although it does need the 'blackouts' to calm it down. That's a great job with the black on the hood too. I just 'drink in' all that info on the cars, (& factories). Never get tired of that, so informative & interesting. I'd love to know what you think about detailing engines with 'wiring' & 'hoses, (if it's worth the effort or not)?
@TheMuscleCarModeler
@TheMuscleCarModeler Ай бұрын
My builds rarely leave my house and are built for me. This channel is really the only way these would be seen. I used to go on the forums but got burned out on that but still like to visit them for motivation and see what others are doing. When it comes to the full detail. I have done a number of engines with wires, heater hoses, fuel lines, battery cables, and brake lines. I never really got a lot of enjoyment out of doing that and it was never a must for me. It also takes a lot of extra time and most times the end results just don't look right to me. Mainly how they all just float in midair but on the real cars they rest on valve covers and heater hoses usually rest on something. Plus, an 8.8mm plug wire that I run on my Mopar and the 8mm on the Chevelle. In 1.25 scale would only be .4mm ish and looks way to thin on the model. Put a 1mm wire on the model engine and it looks good but in reality, would be 25mm on a real engine! That doesn't actually bother me as the scale difference never really did. Just what looks good to my eyes. It does humor me thou! Same with the floating alternators most kits have. I get most of my enjoyment out of the detail painting. So, it is not necessary for me. So out of 300 builds only about 20-30 have that level of detail in them.
@geoffhipwell2198
@geoffhipwell2198 Ай бұрын
@@TheMuscleCarModeler Thankyou Raoul for such a response to my question about detailing engines. I wasn't expecting so much back! You're right, I am really the only one who sees my builds, and I'm tired of detailing every motor in every build & when it comes to scale, that's another problem. They look so much 'cleaner,' as in your builds. I actually keep all of your builds in a 'playlist' in my library. So maybe just 'detail' the occasional, 'special' builds here & there, like favourites I suppose. Thankyou again so much, you've helped me make my mind up. Take care Raoul. Keep 'em coming. Catch ya next time 🦘

Great job, I enjoyed this series. Finally got one of this kit myself last week. I pre-ordered one from my hobby store way back at Thanksgiving, still don't have that one yet. I do like the model in yellow, but I'm not so sure what the color you used really looks like. Indoors it looks much different than its appearance in the outdoor video segment. And in one of your earlier progress videos, the color looked "greener" than in this video.
@TheMuscleCarModeler
@TheMuscleCarModeler Ай бұрын
That is all on the iPhone camera. It will auto correct the color. You can't adjust it from the phone but can do some adjusting in editing. On colors like this, it will try and make it more green and other times try and correct it to yellow. You can't lock the white balance like I could with my old camcorder. I had the same issue with Calypso Coral. It would try and make it orange or pink.

The color looks “just right” with the stripe package! Very nice build, as always 👍 I’ve heard it’s possible to kitbash the duster chassis and engine bay into this kit. Any thoughts on doing that when you build the ‘72?
@TheMuscleCarModeler
@TheMuscleCarModeler Ай бұрын
Thanks. I already have a few resin Demons that require the Duster chassis. The swap is not as easy as you would think so I’m going to build those eventually but not with this new kit.

Turned out awesome I like you did a 71 only color I’m gonna do my 71 Demon in the L5 Butterscotch/Bahama yellow cause it was only available in 69 and 71 but to my knowledge it was a special order only color on the 69 roadrunners Did the black decals dry a satin finish ? Also FJ6 Green Go/Sassy Grass was still available in 71 I’ve seen some 71 GTXs and Roadrunners that color And the Dirty Marry Crazy Larry charger to me it looked kinda in between the FJ5 Sublime/Limelight and the GY3 Citron Yella/Curious yellow so I mixed roughly 2/3s GY3 with a 1/3 of FJ5 and I think it looks closer to the actual car

Yes, I have the two resin 71 and 72 Demons. The 71 will be Plum Crazy but the 72 is undecided. I did buy another one of this kit and the 72 3D printed grill and resin hood scoop to do another one. That one is also undecided.

@@TheMuscleCarModeler As the "correct" finish on Mopar and Ford black hoods (GM?), I just wondered if the texturing looked out-of-scale on a model. I may try it at some point.

Nice, clean *GY3* *Demon* ! I have quite a couple of copies of this bad boy - plus the *3D* *printed* grilles you refer to ( 1971 and 1972 ) , and they are *beautiful* ! Too bad that the kit's decals are so awful. I actually abandoned my first attempt of this kit because of those junky, obstinate decals ! The potential was there ; the execution is a failure. No *console* / *4* *speed* A bodies after 1969 model year, period. The only exception is the *Mexico* and , perhaps, the *South* *American* A's .

Thank you. When I do the 72, I plan to remove the console and maybe add a bench seat. I would like to change the dash for a correct 72 Speedo. On and can’t forget the trunk ridge down the center.
