This is a great example of how deep these machines are. They do so much more than just chopping a beat.

I love these videos. I spent like an hour trying to find this dude's name so I could address him properly in an email, because calling somebody 'musician paradise' seems just seems weird, no luck. I look forward to the next video, and I hope in the future the creator can share some more details with us who want to connect. :)

Thank you very much for such a nice comment, I'll be more than happy to reply to your email even if you call me MP, and I'll reply with my real name. I just found it very liberating to use a moniker as a YT creator - I can experiment with my content to the extent the real me never will dare! You will find my email on my channel under the "About" tab.

These are very creative! And for the scratch effect it only makes sense that it should be the two way movement of the button! I though note off would be also good for those who may sample a harpsichord - the noise of the falling wooden key. On a separate theme, have you any idea why when I put an effect (the last tab of program edit) on All groups of a key instrument, it only affects the first group? Very bizarre!
@MusicianParadise3 жыл бұрын
I wanted to sample damper noise and falling wooden keys but didn't had enough time to do it😟. About effects - this is a very interesting question - when you applying effects on the last tab of program edit you effectively applying effect only to the chosen keygroup. - as I have 73 keygroups in my kg program, this means your effect will affect only one key! Even if you will set the keygroups tab to "All" it will put effect on the first keygroup only. That also means you can have a different FX for every key (keygroup) - so very interesting possibilities opens up! If you want to apply effect to whole instrument it's a better ideia to do in on a program level, from the main page. Hope it helps!

@@MusicianParadise thanks a lot, it does! At least, like you say, it opens possibilities for region coloring. I will just bug you with another question about something I cannot figure out: when I apply filter, with or without mod wheel, no matter what I do the filter is more sharp and pronounced on the very light key pressure, and attenuated on high velocity key strike. Like a reverse velocity affectation on the filter depth! No matter what combinations of the sliders I do it stays this way. I’d rather have stronger hit produce deeper filter… BTW, my solution about when you want the same effect on all key groups was (I wanted just light reverb) to record the effect and load it to each group. It was already painful for 5 groups (sampled the Volka bass lol) I can imagine for the piano!!, but at least this way you don’t have to manually set the sliders of each effect. And you are right about better apply effects on the loaded program!

@@RosssRoyce to control the filter with velocity in the way you describing I would reduce the cutoff on the filter to 20-25 and then on velocity modulation increase cutoff to 127. Now you can clearly hear the difference - then you play the pads harder the sound becomes brighter. The next step is to tune the Attack and Depth parameters on velocity modulation tab and actual envelope ADSR and depth. Hope this helps!

How would you go about making a Reverbed Kickdrum with this trick?

That's actually great ideia - do you mean assigning the wet reverb sample to the note-off pad?

How do you select all notes in a midi track all at once ?
@MusicianParadise3 жыл бұрын
First, I used the "Zoom" tool to make all the notes visible on the screen and then I selected all the notes with the "Select" tool (next to the zoom magnifying glass). Sorry, this part was not shown in the video. I wish we had a shortcut as on the computers, something like CtrlA!

It's a cool feature, more useful would've been the Latch mode which was suggested multiple times. Not to sound salty, but I still am. :D

Let's see - it seems AKAI (finally) listening to the community, many of the requested features is already implemented and some yet to come. I hope Latch mode will come someday, thanks for watching!

In the last example all the samples of the beat are triggered not on the midi note start, but on the note end (due to the "Note Off" feature) so, it will result in a very different beat and groove with the same sample set. In some cases it sounds completely random, but with a little luck you can find some nice variations. I would recommend to open few sequences from the AKAI internal library and switch all the notes from the sequence to "Note Off " as shown in the video.
