MPC 2000 in 2024? My Thoughts

Hey guys. Sorry that I haven't uploaded a video in a while. I've been dealing with some health issues. Today I just wanted to give you my thoughts on the MPC 2000. I'm really loving making music with this machine. Thanks for watching guys!!

It didn't power on. - ended up being a 50¢ fuse! Then I replaced a couple of buttons and knobs, all in all, I have less than $100 into it- that includes the unit

Man, I got a 2000 Classic a few months ago but......I gotta get a screen for it other than that it's in pristine condition and it even came with a printed manual. I'm going to attempt to repair the ribbon before I take the $200 plunge for a new screen. I really want to hear this thing so I'll be patient (I didn't pay much for mine either) so it's worth the wait. Thanks for the upload

Hey ! Take care with those screens that people sell like mpcstuff or marunio lcd because they are not working well with 8 outs and fx board. Glitching and creating ghost lines is all I can say . Bad experience with these screens. Mpcstuff is the only one that advise you about problem, the rest don’t say nothing about and later 😢.

Akai mpc 2000 Classic hittin hard man ,the sound is awesome.I also have the Live 2, which has the faster workflow, but when it comes to sound, unfortunately it doesn't come close to the 2000 classic.imho

Yeah man, you can't beat the speed of the workflow on the Live 2. But the sound of the 2000!! 🔥🔥🔥 Do you have any vintage MPCs?

​@@fishingwithcotto2318 I still have an Akai mpc 2000xl in blue with a card reader. It also has a good sound but I think the 2000 plays a bit harder. At some point I would like to buy an Mpc 4000 and try it out. I actually want an mpc 3000 but the prices are crazy. btw you can also create a similar sound with the mpc live 2 if you know which controls and buttons to turn, but out of the box with the mpc 2000 you get the fat Sound

I've had mine since 09.Never getting rid of it. I don't have the 8 outs or effects board but I'm fully expanded with memory. Love it.

Thank you for the video and for pointing out that you will need to learn how to solder and perform repairs on a machine of this age. For someone like me, who isn't techy, a machine like this will quickly turn into a money pit, because I would have to send it to MPC Stuff or someone similar to perform all the repairs.

I agree on the old Pads and the Pitch +/- on the 2000 sounding better than the Live II. (I own the 2000XL) and love the sound it brings to the table! I prefer the 1000 with JJ OS2XL and also the size compared to the MPC 2500. Check out the Isla Instruments S2400! I love mine and in my eyes it's already a modern day classic! Thanks for sharing your thoughts in this Video and conforming mine about the machine.

30 bucks with 8 outputs? WOW!! I paid $1200 with the 8 outputs for mines back in 1998. I still use my 2000 Classic, because i love the sound. I care more about sound than i do the convenience. Imo the 2000 Classic is sonically superior over the 2000XL.

Man I just got mine delivered today but I’m at work. I can’t wait to get home and get my paws on it. Truth be told I didn’t need it I got almost every MPC ever made minus the 1000. It was always something about the 2000 that I thought was so sexy even though there’s no tilt screen like the 2000xl and I got 2 of those well 3 one I use for parts only. People who dump on it all I say is, if your track record for making music is not better than Kanye West then don’t talk to me about no AKAI MPC 2000. That cat make history with the ASR-10 and AKAI MPC 2000.

in the comparison of mpc 2000 and 2500, the newer one has a much faster and intuitive interface, built-in effects, it is possible to upload jj os, it is better as a device... but it does not have this sound or it is more modern, it has much worse pads, i repeat The classic version pads are the pads the world cares about

2000 has the nicest pads out of any mpc made. Too bad it's a pig to use these days compared to a Live.
