I don't think anyone else on youtube has a series about old hip hop gear. You get a video about a sampler here, a sequencer there, but no one else I've seen has tackled the entire history of the hardware progress like you have.

Hey, you know this channel and this type of videos are really something. In an era where everything is DAW, Midi pack, loops, subscriptions and controllers, getting a throw back to the "good old days" is a must. Getting to know what machines people where using and how the general public was dealing with new gear is necessary to understand where we came from. Please don't stop (i know there's limited amount of gear that you could talk about, but make it last hahahahah)

I still have the 60 and its gritty and warm sound add a texture to any sample especially drums , it's very inspiring to use this it's so limited that it forces you to put focus on your drums that's why it was very successful in any genre of music the drums and bass are foundation but this machine really solidified the track nicely something about sampling vinyl with this machine it almost kept that sonic stamp it preserved the sound and even made it better with its 16 bit but yea it's very inspiring to work on this because your using your ears instead of your eyes that's why we now have endless possibilities, power, sample time , software but it's all based on vision not hearing
@DyReckProductions
@DyReckProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Your right about that.Alot of newer producers cant get with the mpc 60 because theres no auto chop. Little things like that kept some folks away from the machine..Not knowing if they learn to chop by ear it will make them a beast in manipulating samples and just understanding production period.

I love this channel, great videos on some iconic gear. Did you ever use the Roland VS1680 or VS1880? They were famously used by Kanye West and MF Doom. I got my first VS 1680 in 2002, but ditched it for a Mac/ Logic a year later. As this box sat gathering dust, I could never bring myself to sell it. I'm glad i kept it. I went DAWLess in 2011 and brought it out of retirement. I added an VS 1880 to my collection and use it with my MPC 2500, Roland SP-404a and SP-808 to make music in my studio. It's funny that considering how popular the Roland VS series was from the mid 90's and early 00's, there's not even a Wikipedia entry for them?!?! Anyway keep up the good work I love the entertaining way you cover the history of classic boxes.

I can walk in my studio and sit in front of an mpc x and not be productive, but i can sit in front of the 60 and be limited to maybe 2 snares 3 kick drums and hi hats that's it then I can hunt for samples and instantly concentrate on making a finished beat and it 🔥🔥🔥🔥 today's drum machines are turning Into glorified iPads or laptops that's why the sp1200 was a success and to this day the sp1200 is worth a ton of money even that machine had a small screen i believe as technology got better the music began to suffer and in this day and age we are witnessing the downfall of music

You might be right on that..The sounds of the vintage machines are timeless..And the user interface is so dope that it helps you become creative instantly.

Why bother making it just about the II? Only difference is the headphone socket and the terrible asthetics.

You forgot to mention the removable power plug on the MPC 60II as a upgrade from MPC 60. Although I dont remember the cost of the MPC 60 II. I doubt it was $1800. Thats bs!!!!!! 3000 was $3600 in 1997. My 2000 Studio Plus was $2500 in 1997. My s&^% was the cheapest fully loaded MPC at the time. Even the base MPC 2000 was $1500. No way in hell was a 60 II only $1800. GTFOHSB!!!!
