I received a lot of questions about MPC Beats and the MPK Mini MK3. I'm actually amazed this software is available for free because it can do so much, but also that might make it a little overwhelming for some. This video is for beginners that may have never used a DAW before, or possibly looking to get started with MPC Beats for the first time. This tutorial is a step by step process on how I go from opening the program to completing my beat all inside the MPC Beats software.

@@florenciaignaciaolivaresbe111 when you double click a kit from the browser it will load to the pads. (4:03) You can also drag any samples that were loaded manually to a pad as well. I'm not sure what you mean play by themselves. triggering a key or drum pad should play the sound. make sure your a midi signal is coming thru when you press a key.

That was a REALLY GOOD tutorial, what DAW do you typically work with? I just purchased the MK3, and I'm trying to learn how to properly use it to make beats. I'm coming from a DJing background, and the way I would make Remixes or Redrums would basically line one up alongside the other and record them live. But now I'm wanting to make actual beats and would like to learn how to properly use this controller.

It has it built in. Check your setup wizard. If not just search MK3 with FL in KZbin. I don’t know anything about FL I use Ableton

The pads and keys trigger the same samples. The video goes over how to rearrange the pads, but you could also trigger a pad on the mpk to see what it triggers in the program and move the sample to that pad

A big workflow help when it comes to percussion is to utilize the quantization function. No messing around with dragging clips.

I use quantize. And I drag clips. Depends on the day, and depends on the feel you want.

Yeah of course you can. Make sure volume is up, and that something is actually playing. If you can hear through the speakers you can hear through headphones. You have to go into program edit. Warp the sample then adjust the bpm of it to fit how u want

How to properly align your notes correctly if you messed up? Does it have to do with changing the bpm at all??? I tried in another DAW, not this prepacked one (will come back to this now.) And dragging the notes was iffy and would go in the wrong spots... That's why I'm asking. Would overdubbing be a solution for this as well or is their cons to this method? Watching this before work. Want to ensure i got the basics down.

U can quantize your notes to make them perfect or you can drag them one by one. You may need to turn off the grid to drag them anywhere or they may snap to the grid you have set.

Do your claps and kick drums separately , drums are heavy and throws the cpu off because they are located on the pads . Notice how when you go up and down octaves on the keys the pads stay the same and if you play a melody on the pads it sometimes play 2 or more pads even if the chords are off . It does that on the software when you use stand alone you can figure drum your heart out because it’s made for it lol

U can use keys or pads to trigger the same notes.

Bro i just installed it, but the ((Audio device is Not Working No audio will be processed)) that's what pops up in the far-right corner. How do i get around this?

Go to your preferences and select whatever audio device you’re using

Hey, I can't assign the sounds to pad B01 like you did at 12:17 to 12:20 mark. There's something I can't figure out. Once I get to the wave form the I can't switch to the B section for the assigned sound on pad B01. I cnt even click B. It seems as if I could only work with section A

You should be able to click on any Bank you want. A, B, C etc. I dragged files/sounds from that pool to any pad I want. Let’s say you couldn’t figure out how to click on the other banks, then you should just make a new track, make a new drum program, and drag your sounds to the empty slots.

Not sure what you’re using but you should be able to adjust it.

Can you help me figure out how to hear sound from my laptop? I was able to pull up the kit. And the buttons worked but no sound played when I selected play after recording.

Hi I download the expansion packs but I can’t seem to find it In the MPC beats DAW. Also your MPC beats has a lot more controls on the top than mine any idea why? Thanks so much!

Off the top of my head, there’s a few buttons on bottom right. One will show/hide your expansions. If the top looks different you can switch between an advanced or basic mode. Can’t remember where u change it. Try view or display maybe
