I bought the old blue and red MPC1000 brand new in 2004 which is around a year after it first came out. I then traded it in only after a few months because it lacked too many features. Although it had potential, the Akai firmware didn't even have a featureset that was as good as the MPC2000XL at the time. In 2006, I discovered the JJOS and immediately bought another MPC1000 off ebay fully loaded (the black one) once I was able to acquire the funds. I later upgraded it to JJOS2XL. WOW!!!!! What a difference that made!!!!! This was clearly no longer the MPC1000 from 2004!!!!! This was a whole different machine which totally surpassed the features and capabilities of the MPC2000XL and was on the verge of becoming a MPC4000 Jr. Although I traded in my second MPC1000 after over a decade of heavy use in the studio and gigging, I still own my JJOS2XL MPC2500 I bought about 10 years ago. I replaced the MPC1000 with the far more superior MPC One. If it wasn't for the influence of JJ, I don't think the current generation MPC X, Live, and One would be nearly as good as they are today!!!

I don't know who JJOS is, but what I *do* know is the RS7K needs a JJOS-like figure to open up the RS. There's tons of things it can do but there's no access to due to the rather 'streamlined' rompler sound editor that's OKAY, but locks away the full potential of the synth engine itself. If you've ever looked at the AWM2 specs, it's deep as hell and the RS7K is already ALSO deep...except editing sounds! THere's not even a software editor that can edit all it can do. I keep hoping someone hacks the RS7K since it can update it's OS straight from memory card...It's hardware can handle it, I know it can and the interface is already set up to allow all of these new things to be added...it just takes one person with the elbow grease, knowhow and willingness to turn the RS7K from Super Saiyan to Super Saiyan 3. I keep waiting for that moment...at least MPC fanatics got their Super Saiyan 3. I'm happy for you all! :) But I'm an RS guy and am just waiting...I don't need realtime time stretching for this box to go to supreme level of coolness, I just want full access to the actual voice editing it's capable of! :)

That would be dope!..Yamaha needs to start putting out some more products..Every now and then they'll drop a keyboard.. But they been pretty quiet.
@heavysystemsinc.2 жыл бұрын
@@DyReckProductions Yamaha's bread and butter right now is 'church organs' basically, these performance keyboards for keyboardists for like...'functions'. They're absolutely not interested in doing dj/producer/sampler type machines. YOu just look at their current lineup, they are definitely not competing in the space of Korg, Roland or AKia right now cause they're filling a niche that's making them major bank. They ain't gonna do boutiques like Roland, they ain't gonna do 'mini RS7K' type stuff, the ain't gonna do 'reissues' like bheringer, they're all in on what makes them money and what makes them money is 10gb piano and organ soundfonts wrapped up in a 'i play only normal instruments' package. So don't hold your breath. They know where they are and they know what pays the bills.

@Noise-Conductor2 жыл бұрын
An hacked RS7k OS would too dope, been using 1 since 2014 but I'm currently moving on because most of why I liked it I can do with new gear. The closest to an Updated RS7k with a better synth is the Roland MC-707 or for an overall better Groovebox get the Akai Force. To me the best thing about the RS7k is it's sequencer but the Squarp Pyramid is better if just need a standalone sequencer.
@heavysystemsinc.2 жыл бұрын
@@Noise-Conductor Trust me, I've tried both the 707 and RS7K. 707 can't hold a candle to the flexibility of the RS's sequencer. The 8 bar limit (at 16th notes) and being clip based are really stifling. Some folks get along with that, but I certainly don't. My tunes suffer with those length restrictions. Also 707 and 101 can't chop samples properly, either. They also don't have the functions like adding custom rolls, 'strums', etc. 7K's sequencer is just from another planet compared to Roland's current sequencers. The 707/101 are great machines with some really lovely sounds and features, but sequencing wise? RS7K still can't be touched (and that's before I even mention the time shift, time stretch, etc.)
