I bought a Live 2 about a month ago, after mainly using Ableton for the last few years. Ableton is actually easier to use and the workflow is better, but I love the Live 2 because I get a break from my computer (after working on it all day), and because I can sit and make beats anywhere. I'm still not 100% sure I made the right choice with the MPC Live 2, instead of the Ableton Push 2. If not for the standalone mode, battery, and built in speaker, I'd 100% go with the Push 2 (or 3). One more thing to consider--the MPC Live 2 does not support third party plugins in standalone mode. Standalone is more limited than when the MPC Live 2 is attached to a computer. There is definitely a trade off. I did not realize standalone was more limited than controller mode. It isn't a huge deal, but it is a bit disappointing.

It's the same machine, with a different color, swap out the ethernet card with a wifi card, put 16gb storage instead of 4gb (the costs for Akai are not worth to mention) and give a + in the name. In summary, it's just a refresh, not a new model unfortunately.

the wifi and bluetooth are worth trading in /selling/upgrading to the one+. the op here called the one a budget mpc --- its the same os and has the same software options as the X, minus the I/O. many folks dont need 8 channels of I/O for a portable device. i think imma just buy the one+ and swap the cover with my retro because i DO love the retro color

However after owning the MPC One and now the Live 2 the advantages of the Live and the price point (which COULD be $1199 like the old days for the main units MPC1000 etc) it just feels the most “complete” in my opinion. Case in point watching the playoffs and being able to show my production partners tracks I’m working on during the breaks and halftime or taking the MPC and using it as the hub in any setup man or for me traveling for work on planes etc it’s just the best option in pretty much any scenario! I waited a few years and I’m a Maschine HEAD but with MPC Live 2 Fantom 08 and all Komplete I have NO NEED for another production center. Long winded but I hope this explanation helps! Peace!

@@beatemdown1602 differnet buttons means different look and feel which is a huge factor in my opinion. having quicker access to sample edit and programm edit for example on the one compared to the live 2 and the more clicky buttons is kinda cool. although live 2 = best all around mpc

I’ve only had my MPC One for about four months so hearing of this new release initially upset me. 😅 But after hearing what the new features are, it’s not a big deal for me. I couldn't care less about wifi or Bluetooth to be honest. I'd rather see them support portable usage for the MPC One form factor (no, the Live 2 is not the same). I'm not surprised to see a MPC One+ though. If they improve the Live to something closer to the MPC One, then I would get the MPC Live 3 for sure.

From what I've seen at this point, the MPC One Plus is now cheaper than the original MPC One. I remember the MPC One coming out at $699, then the price increased at one point, to $899. It was my first MPC. I got the miniD plugin. I play live a lot, my artist name is Mairk. My MPCOne+ crashed a lot initially but it has settled down. I use it for sample / track playback and live jamming over the track. It was a second hand ebay purchase. I was going to buy an mpc one but this came up. Splice sample integration is nice. The DAW software is a good analogy and stem separation has been good. Ultimately I will continue with the following workflow… create everything in Reason and export stems or track, place in MPC software and then export to MPCOne. All good. I also bought a couple of 32GB SD cards.

What everyone who is slagging Akai doesn't appear to appreciate is for those of us who have no platform and who want to get into making music, it is a good option... it is "better" than the previous models in terms of storage and wifi etc... so for me it is a good buy... the rest of you need to deal with your GAS!! I'm in your comments! I messaged a friend about the One+ earlier: "There's a new MPC One which doesn't add enough to make me lust after it. That's a good thing." My MPC One has wifi cobbled together through a cheap ethernet/wifi gateway and it works fine for me. It's also running the firmware from TheKikGen that lets me connect through to the underlying operating system, and access the files on the SD card directly. The One+'s modest boost in processor and internal storage is ok, but I'd prefer a USB 3.0 host like the other MPCs instead of 16GB of flash storage (it's 2023 ffs!) Case colour is fine, it's nice not to have the same black boxes everywhere, but after doing the retro colouring on the X SE I was hoping for more of that. My eyes are getting old and if it's a bit "atmospheric" (ie dark) I can't read the labels without a load of contrast. BUT, it's like comparing the entry level model of a car in 2023 to the previous entry level model from 2020. No great changes, just a bit of a refresh. And that's ok! If it gets more people into the MPC ecosystem, that's all good. I'm happy driving my 3 year old MPC and will continue to do so for a long time.

It’s becoming really frustrating how gluttonous and predatory these companies are becoming. Akai is announcing this a MONTH after their anniversary MPC X. Ableton releases the Push 3 out of nowhere. Why couldn’t these be announced at NAMM, with a release date so people can pre-order? All these fragmented releases make it difficult for people to ever invest in hardware, because for all we know the new Maschine plus gold edition releases tomorrow.

I mean, MPC One has been out 3 years now, so anyone who only just bought did so with that knowledge. The context that can't be overlooked is that the MPC line has changed drastically in the last 3 years, with unmatched innovation in their operating systems, now making them plugin hosts, way more functional than they were when most people bought them, and so requiring more ram. It's the innovation that made this necessary. And Push 3 wasn't out of nowhere, there was high speculation that it was coming this year.

While I agree that companies like to hurt your wallet, I can't say this is quite the same type of cash grab. It is launching on sale. You can buy a brand new unit (MPC ONE +)for as much as you can buy the original MPC ONE. If they were predatory like teenage engineering is the MPC ONE + would have a price tag of over a thousand dollars easy. It is disappointing to maybe the people who just recently bought an MPC ONE, but the product has been out for a long time now. What makes them figure you will buy something they put out after such a long time. No disrespect. I get where you are coming from, but this isn't a revolutionary kind of upgrade to have to be announced at NAMM because it pretty much functions identically to the original with a few features that won't necessarily make your beats any better. My point is. If you do not know how to use the MPC ONE well enough to must have those features then it isn't such a big loss.

The 404 hits harder for sure, but it doesn't compare to the mpc, in my opinion, as far as creating with comfort. I stopped using my 404 to make beats. If I do use it, it's only to use its processing of sounds. Mpc with the big six and some rupert neve modules on the master insert is how I get down.

The only people who have a problem with this are existing owners hoping for a real upgrade (and people who only just bought new). For upcoming buyers, this is good news. If I was new, I'd want that ethernet still, but otherwise all good news and wifi/bluetooth is great. And the RAM which is becoming more important as the line is becoming more and more a plugin host for quite good plugins. Plus the voucher that is unquestionably good. I don't like the paint job though.

I bought the mpc1+ but I notice that the screen and the area where the power supply is connected heats up a little after 1 hour of use. Has this happened to anyone else? Is that normal? I would like to know if the same thing happens to the MPC Live 2 or is it different because it does not have the same position and the battery does not heat the machine.

There was a note in the video where I said Bluetooth is only for MIDI. The iPad is plugged in through the USB type C headphone jack to the MPC one.

Edit: lol, you said all this at the end, bt Im leaving my take 😊 I can these as quality of life improvements for a select market, but i don't see anything I would need or use over my current setup. I don't stay connected to the internet, i don't use wireless gear or ipads, and I always bet on black, so the red color isn't what I'd call a selling point. For anyone just starting a studio, this might be a good choice. For literally every other current owner, this isn't a big deal. In a way, that's fine by me, I like feeling like my gear is still top.

I think this is a huge deal to have WiFi/Bluetooth, especially considering how much I have used my iPad Pro for audio production. So akai did confirm that it has an updated processor (same one as the live and X, i guess the one didnt originally have this cpu?) but they really really slacked hard by not adding that 4 gigs of ram

Latency is low when sending midi data, but high when receiving midi back to the unit
