MPC Studio Black Overview

A walkthrough of my favorite features on MPC Studio Black and how I use it in combination with Logic Pro X.

Marcus, you’re a got damned genius! Thank you for your time and patience explaining this, you just confirmed that I already have everything I need with this machine. I’ve had it for almost 3 years and haven’t even used it yet. I finally have the time to open it up and get busy now that I’m home everyday. This is a blessing in disguise with all the latest updates and free software upgrades, I decided to keep it and say to hell with any new purchases. I’m in sampling heaven now.

This is awesome because I like to work the same way with my daw of choice, Acid Pro 7 ! BTW , for those of you who don't know, Rent a Center can purchase anything for you off of Amazon. If you are strapped for cash or credit, Rent -A-Center will get it, apply their rental fee, you make weekly or monthly payments. I just purchased an Akai MPC STUDIO BLACK this way. Can be easier on your budget if you don't have the immediate cash.

I use the silver MPC but man I need the black version. Looks so much nicer. The black colour scheme with the white font matches my Tascam 134 perfectly

Great video, I'm running OS Catalina now and every time I go to bounce midi to audio in MPC 2.8 the software crashes. I have to move into Logic 10.5 ASAP so I can get some work done.

Nelson Welston you can also try opening the MPC software in standalone mode, and click the export midi button. You can still drag that midi from the standalone into Logic X. See if that works instead of loading the MPC software as a plugin inside Logic

Thank you for the video! I just borrowed this piece of gear. Does the mpc software and this controller allow to just jam and record the whole session in real time. Not just a loop of say 64 bars. And furthermore, is it also possible to record along with it some other external gear via soundcard? Drum machines etc. To use this controller as a hardware piece for making a full track in real time?

There is only: MPC Even if the software is launched. Can you may help me with this problem, cause i wanted to play with the MPC and not with a software ;) - guess you know what i mean. Hey I’m not sure why the MPC is not launching correctly. Sounds like there is an issue with the hardware not seeing the software on your computer. My suggestion would be to reinstall the software and check online for the most recent firmware updates for your hardware. Also if there is a driver needed make sure you have the latest driver installed as well. If that doesn’t work I would contact Akai. I’m not sure what computer you’re using but if you’ve got a Mac M1 there might be some compatibility issues, a lot of software from different companies isn’t working properly on the Mac M1’s. The solution is to open the software in Rosetta mode. To learn how to do that just search it on KZbin it’s easy to do. Hopefully that helps 👍🏾

hi Marcus, can you time stretch a sample while playing, so that you hear it.. Imagine a sample of a voice that goes down from 140bpm to 60bpm? i see that the pitch is not affected, can you actually select if you want it to affect the pitch or not? best, Chris

Hey bro I’m having trouble finding the 16 stereo out in Logic Pro x when I go to the AU Akai Mac, its not showing up. I’m using Mpc studio black as well.

I don’t use the 16 stereo outs when using the MPC. But when u select the 16 stereo out option the fader on your mixer in Logic should have a plus sign ➕ on the bottom of it. When you press that plus sign it should add additional faders. Each of those faders represent one of the 16 outputs for the MPC

Hey man whats crackin?? I just bought my MPC Studio Black from amazon uk for £300. Ive noticed that I should get a free download of MPC 2 but i cant get a hold of it haha. any chance you might know?? On the Akai pro website its says anybody who purchased the Studio Black on or after 01st january 2017 they can download MPC2 for free. thanks man

This F**cking Channel did you register your studio black on the AKAI pro site yet? Usually once you register it and set up an account on the AKAI site you can go to (my products) and all the software downloads and serial numbers for your product are there.
