Awesome video man! I really like your approach. I find it minimalistic and straightforward. I often get lost with too many options in ableton and spend more time deciding which vst i want to use than actually making music. Keep the good work bro, greetings from Spain

Thanks man! I find that the more simple things are at reach the quicker we can get our ideas out. The one thing I love about old samplers are the limitations and because of that it really simplifies a lot of my ideas. 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Your beat is NOT shit, lol. I recorded my first album (back in the 90s) almost exclusively on the ASR 10. At the time I found it quite clunky to work with (that sequencer is shite) but, looking back, it had a great sound. And we bounced the tracks to tape, which really helped as well. I do miss the sound and physical control of the ASR and pine after it. On a different note, it looks like the MPC and ASR combo is a really good one. Thanks for an awesome vid, so good to see a producer doing most of their work outside of the box. I think it really gives the music a totally different feel
@evoproducer2 ай бұрын
Yea the sequencer in the ASR isn’t the best but that’s what makes the machine so different and great. The MPC and ASR is a dope combo. It makes it so much easier to chop samples on the ASR than the MPC. Either machine is great as standalone. It really has been a part of my sound for years. Making beats in the DAW just doesn’t sound the same to me.
@owlmuso2 ай бұрын
@@evoproducer Yeah man I totally get that. I think I lost a lot of creativity when I sort of ended up doing music only in the box. I am on a mission to get back to doing beats on hardware. Your vid is a good inspiration for that, thank you. And yeah, just from I have heard on this video, you have a great sound.

@evoproducerАй бұрын
Yea the tascam has a lot of routing options and it does sound really good. The compressors sound pretty snappy on snares. Recording into the tascam is convenient when you want to work outside the box.

Lookin forward to this one, recently got myself a mix wiz 3 for the 16 direct outs, running the asr w expander and 2kxl through it. Got my notepad ready! Got a ferrofish pulse w 16 in and out foruntately so dont have to worry about running all the ins at once for multi tracking. ASR Tricks would be the sauce if you can manage some time for it. Thats the one machine where every forum etc requires way back machine and dead links to really get info on. Even the majority of the good asr machine videos just show a lot of capabilities of the machine rather then someone who actually uses it on a daily basis and with the asr you have 900 ways to get to the same destination so that process can hit a lightbulb seeing someone elses method.

Nice video bro. I just copped a Tascam Model 12 about 3 weeks ago for the 8 outs of my MPC 5000. I have watched many videos about the mixer. To my understanding, it isn’t possible to print the mixes from the Tascam straight to DAW. Only to SD recording on the unit itself. Unless you found a hack? Lol. I have asked many users of the M12 and was told everything only tracks into DAW dry. Either way, loving the classic setup. That’s peace!
@evoproducer2 ай бұрын
The model 12 is a beast and has so many routing capabilities. I believe there are settings that will allow you to capture the mix pre or post comp, eq, and all that. I have been using the SD feature a lot lately. End of each week I have been dumping the stems into pro tools and then arranging the beat in there.
@GoldynChyldАй бұрын
@@evoproducer Most definitely! Haven’t had much time to dig into it yet. Meantime I have been watching many tutorials on the unit. That thing is a beast. I just wish it was Analog+digital. But I look forward to trying a new workflow tracking inside the mixer and having fun with it. I just hope the sound is still fat verses going into DAW. Gonna tap in tonight finally. Peace! Love your setup too. ASR/MPXL combo is a Monster!
