It seems like it would make sense if the standards committee required NEXT and RL measurements for a channel test. If the patch cords are terminated poorly, the test will still pass, so it kind of makes the channel test useless, other than just for setting reference. I guess its not possible to run a channel test with the patch cord adaptors?? Whole thing seems strange, you almost have to first test your patch cables with the patch cord adaptors.....then just do a normal permanent link test and hope it all works when plugged in because its impossible to do a full true end to end test.

how’s it going mike! i wanted to know for your mptl test could you also use the cat 6a patch cord adapter on cat 6 cable and still get valid results?

The short answer is no. The RJ45 jacks in the patch cord adapters are tuned to category of cable being tested. If you setup a Cat 6 MPTL test and try to run it with the DSX-PC6A Cat 6A patch cord adapter, the tester will give you an error message and stop the test.

Mr Mike I have camera runs with RJ45 on both ends , Can I still do MPTL test ? Is there a special coupler for the Perm Link adapter end

The ideal test for this configuration would be the Direct Attached Cable test. This involves using a Patch Cord adapter at each end that matches the category of the cable you are testing. You would then select the ISO DAC TR E for Cat 6 cable or the ISO DAC TR Ea for Cat 6A. Using the Patch Cord adapters ensures you are testing the RJ45 plugs at each end of the connection. When testing Cat 6 cable you would need the DSX-PC6 and for testing Cat6A would would need the DSX-PC6A. MPTL only works where you have a RJ45 jack on one end and a RJ45 plug on the other.
