I think it's great that you can keep this MPV on the road with a good used transmission for 300 dollars in parts. If another person, say me, had to pay the labor just to do that swap, it wouldn't be worth it. That's the beauty of being about to do it yourself.

Roll it outside, Gunk and power rinse while you can. It's actually beneficial- to flush/drain your water heater at least 3x year. Run water 5 mins, turn thermos to HIGH HOT. Wait for shut off (20 mins) while Gunk is working. Steam clean engine stuff AND new trans. Wheel it back inside, readjust your water heater back to before. Let dry. Fluid Film the entire undercarriage area, where you can't get later. Clean stuff is always nice to work on.

I have a Previa with over 300k miles and is 20x better built. When it is cold, takes 4miles before it goes into 4th, thats after I put fresh fluid at around 250ish. IMO Previa is probably one of the best vehicles Toyota ever released, other than Land Cruiser. Interior is mint despite abusing the crap out of it. Suspension on these is straight out of a full size truck with 4cyl engine. It is in my backyard car graveyard because A/C doesn't work so I only use it when it is cold weather doing farm chores. The engine in this toyota doesn't make the ticking and clanking noise that my Subarus make with 300k miles. Previa engine sounds like new. I didn't know that MPV was rwd. Thats interesting.

@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics7 жыл бұрын
One of the easiest transmission swaps ever lol. Do you think it's too late for the MPV to get a KROWN treatment? xD
@lightningsmokerXx7 жыл бұрын
-Well that's good to hear that you find it easy overall. -Krown lol! , well i mean without something it's just gonna deteriorate. But money is money as well......some options you could consider if you don't wanna do the full spray. I know krown will do just an underbody spray , it's around $60-$65 before taxes ( at least in Ontario, Canada ) - The other option is , buy their Krown T40 in a 4Litre Jug / 4quart jug and put it in a harbor freight pot sprayer and do some yourself and use a rattle can under the hood. - OR .... Get the Fluid Film kit, with the flex wands and long steel rod ( i actually have this ) for my tractors & yard stuff Fluid Film Kit - KellSportProducts - www.kellsportproducts.com If you get that kit, get the pro gun. (good little video on the Fluid Film kit stuff > kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYLVoqSqbdakaNU ) (youtube search , fluid film spray kit, you'll see lots of good videos ) (you can buy the bit to drill, but i might let krown do it as they know what side of the door skin to drill on, don't want yuck all over your windows every time cuz you drill on the wrong side ) Also Rustcheck who is like Krown ( 1 of 3 good options from Canada ) they have a little do it yourself kit you could get if it's available in your area > kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoK0noysqpqUpJo www.rustcheck.com But money aside, ya can't hurt. Rust Never Sleeps. If that was my MPV i'd do something about it, cuz at that age , you gotta do everything you can do to keep it on the road. --------Have a Great Day Ivan
@lightningsmokerXx7 жыл бұрын
Also Sadly , i don't think the Krown Store ships to Pennsylvania , but you have locations near you could just buy cans / case like eric does, or the 4L/4quart jug and put in a shutz gun / pot sprayer / fluid film style sprayer kit. shopusa.krown.com/collections/krown-aerosol-products www.fluid-film.com/frequently-asked-questions/ PS i also think fluid film has a wheel gel that lasts longer against the elements , similar to Rust Check Coat & Protect

Hey Ivan what are your thoughts on synthetic engine oil and what do you use in your personal vehicles?
@PineHollowAutoDiagnostics7 жыл бұрын
I am a huge fan of synthetic oil. The only cars that I use conventional oil on anymore are old GM pushrod engines, and oil burners. Modern VVT systems are very picky about oil, so top-grade synthetic oil and regular change intervals are key!

I know you meant it as a joke, but KZbin announced a couple months ago that they are no longer allowing channels to post NEW videos requiring payment (old paid videos will remain for people that have already paid for them) - the channel basically has to be on Yotuube Red now to have "paid" videos. That is the reason channels like ScannerDanner Premium switched to another website to continue posting paid videos. More info about this support.google.com/youtube/answer/7515570

Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics you may want to put an explanation in the video description of "Nissan Rogue CVT Teardown Part 2)" linking to the KZbin change I previously posted about -- otherwise I am afraid it is going to lead to many upset people that paid for that video & now it is going to be made free, since many people are completely unaware of the recent change that KZbin did about paid videos on here.

Jon Rushing completely agree - I spent the $1.99 to buy unlimited viewing of it since I knew Ivan put so much time & effort into that entire project. I am concerned it is going to reignite that whole issue again when KZbin forces him to make the video free or take it completely down - only this time it will be some of the people that previously spent the money to watch that great diagnostic video on a CVT. Hopefully he updates that video's description info to include a disclaimer that KZbin is forcing him to make it available free or take it down, and include the link I previously posted with KZbin's announcement about this change.

They really aren't bad. Snap On is overrated. Just need to know the limitations of your ratchets, use a breaker bar when needed, to break things loose, so ratchets have a longer life. Junk that car. No reason to keep that POS Mazda going with nearly a quarter of a million miles. Seems like you have plenty of cars to go around. The whole car isn’t worth what you spent on that transmission. Something else will break and then what? Who knows if that transmission actually is good?
