The Arsenal Bird might have the YB-35’s looks and propulsion but it’s a lot closer to the Lockheed CL-1201 in size. In addition, the MQ-99 is closer to the EADS Barracuda.

Seriously, it's so cringy seeing the mass amounts of Ace Combat comments... Like I get it, it's in a video game, I don't knock people for playing video games, and getting all giddy over military tech... but it's just sad to see a big disconnect from reality. What I see from the video is a small refueling aircraft with autonomous capabilities, aiding in longer stealth surveillance missions.

@@TickyTack23 They're mostly doing it because it's funny. Unless it cost like 45 billion. All those drones being able to dock mid flight fold it's wings while being less then a foot from another drone to the left or right.. But there could be something. In that Scenario they would be carried under the arsenal bird and refuel a fleet of Erusean Military F-35C jets. Original intention would have been arsenal Bird MQ-25 & Osean Military F-35B & C jets this is due to the fact that the F-35a has a flying boom which is different from the probe and drogue system. For this drone in Strangreal Ace combat universe it should be Able to refuel Yuktobanian Su-27 flanker family jets Su-57 stealth jets Emmerian Navy F-18s & F-35C possibly Aurelian Navy YR-99 coffin equiped jets if Osea owns them but if Erusea uses them to would be their Military radical factions ally the Belkan Air force probe and drogue planes lastly Lesath & Estovakian probe and drogue planes like Su-33 Tornado GR1

@Alte.Kameraden5 жыл бұрын
@@teod1298 You're forgetting a key detail that kept Northrop Flying Wing Aircraft struggled with up until the B2 and why only one bomber flying wing ever was adopted, despite the advantages such a design could yield. Northrop was never able to figure out how to keep these aircraft stable in the air when there was a lack of a Rudder. Meaning Northrop flying wing aircraft were limited, heavily limited on how they can fly, and operate. N-1M is a good example, it could not yaw, could not roll to it's sides either. All it could do was prove you could fly an aircraft without a vertical stabilizer, but not in a fashion that would make it practical for anything...... This problem would plague Northrop's flying wing designs with only the B2 ever solving it. This includes the YB-35, by the time the YB-49 came along Northrop were pretty much forced to put stabilizers and rudders on their flying wings, making them not "True" flying wings. This is a problem that the Norten Brothers actually solved, one that Northrop overlooked. Norten brothers basically decided to use air breaks to provide the necessary effect that a rudder would normally provide similar to what you would see in a Dauntless Dive Bomber with flaps that opened on the backside of the wings up and down together, at different degrees attached to the foot peddles normally associated with the rudder. Though for the Ho229 they functioned similar to dive breaks on a Me410. But they were what was used to make it simulate having a rudder. This gave a pilot a good amount of "Yaw" control, something Northrop designs lacked. This allowed the Norten design to perform, roll, and yaw, something Northrop flying wings could not do, until the B2 Stealth Bomber, which is the only major design by Northrop that Incorporated this feature. Northrop actually sent engineers to look at the Ho229 to see what the heck the Norten company did that gave the Ho229 the ability to do this, something over looked when it was first evaluated decades prior after it was captured. Sadly this has caused a misconception that Northrop copied the Ho229 because of it's stealth characteristics. When that is far from the truth, as it mostly had to do with trying to make a stable flying wing that didn't have an Stabilizer or Rudder, something the Ho229 had but no other Northrop designs achieved. Without being able to make the B2 a stable aircraft without a Rudder/stabilizer it would never be able to be stealthy in the fashion Northrop wanted, the Ho229's yaw controls however were a solution to that problem. So sure, Northrop got the first flying wings in the air, but they were not good aircraft, not until their 1950 designs. Ho229 was decades ahead of it's time because of something as simple as it's ability to yaw proper. Half a century ahead of Northrop's flying wing designs because of a similar innovation that made it better than what Northrop built. It's similar to how the F-14 used the frontal wing slats similar to what was introduced in the BF109B (1936, first aircraft to have forward wing slats that deployed automatically at specific air speeds) that no one else used which provides increased left at slower air speeds taking a concept design introduces decades prior to give a modern aircraft an edge. PS a lot of people copied the BF109's frontal wing slats during WWII but during the early Jet age the concept was too fragile for high speed jets. F-14 is the best modernish example I can think of that it was reintroduced successfully.

1. Can take off and land on a carrier all by itself. 2. Can refuel mid-air all by itself. 3. Capable of delivering payload to a target. US Navy: “We don’t trust it enough.” Turned into a flying tanker. Well done. I suppose the very least this project could do is to not get terminated and found other applications-even though it is capable for more than what it immediately received.
@Locutus4946 жыл бұрын
Did you watch the video? Do you have any knowledge of the UCLASS program's objectives? Obviously not. Buddy refueling is just one of the role requirements of this program.
@damianm-nordhorn1166 жыл бұрын
Firstly there are attack and surveillance drones out there already and tanking is extremely important. Secondly, if they're not gonna use it for other purposes from day one already, it's convenient to use it as a tanker first and check it's reliability (probably especially regarding carrier landing) before you load them with more expensive and secret equipment. I'd assume they're no dummies.
@TheRibbonRed6 жыл бұрын
Locutus494 I watched the whole video. That’s why I’m commenting, because they downplayed the UCLASS program’s combat purposes and overtly repeated the “buddy tanking” capabilities of the former-to-be X-47B. No need to be offensive. Damian here provided a nice point that I overlooked without claiming that I know nothing of the program’s objectives (which the decision to merely relegate it as a buddy tanker was controversial after the X-47B proved to be fully capable autonomously-which also might have a hand in Northrop withdrawing from the program). I doubt that the MQ-25 would ever demonstrate its combat capabilities when assigned as an air tanker, but perhaps that day might come.
@damianm-nordhorn1166 жыл бұрын
TheRibbonRed It's only a marketing video after all ;) Remember how loads of people were bashing the F-35? .. And now most of NATO orders it. They'll test and evaluate this one and analyze current and future needs and then decide. And while it doesn't look like THE f FUTURE ATTACK DRONE (carrying weapons outside and not 'stealthy'), NATO partners without tanker fleets might be interested in this product.
