Is there going to be a Coupe version? I've just taken delivery of a C63s Coupe, was going to hold off and wait for the E63s, but heard a whisper that next year Merc were going to (for the first time) introduce the E63s Coupe, (which I'd favour) the dealer couldn't confirm, so I went ahead with the C. I'm still running her in, but so far, I have no regrets!

They are so different! It's not right to compare. The E cannot be the dynamic pure AMG the C is, but equally the C can't hope to be as brutal or cosseting. Both equally incredible on their own!

Hi RBR, just wanted to check the details of a car I ordered and thought you might be the expert on this? 1. I understand the engines between the standard and S are the same. Would this mean any tune would mean that the end performance should end up similar and that the only difference in power now is purely due to engine mapping? 2. Also I wanted to spec the CCB but that's only available in S option and I didn't get the E63S as the tax laws in our country would mean 65k pounds more just for the S version. I was wondering whether a retrofit on the 19inch rims is possible? 3. The standard doesn't have a race function right? Does that mean the exhaust note is limited to only Sport +? Thanks!! NT

Power is only one side of it. The non-S doesn't get the most important feature: dynamic engine/gearbox mounts. This changes the whole handling character of the car! Yes race mode is only in S, but the exhaust between S+ and Race is the same essentially.

Yesterday, May 20, 2017, I had the great pleasure of attending the AMG Driving Academy in Braselton, GA at the Road Atlanta track. This was an amazing day. I got to drive every AMG car offered in the US (- sport utilities). The GT with 600 hp was a beast. I only reached 130 mph because the instructor was in the lead car. I did ride with an instructor at 150 mph. In the US, if you purchase an AMG, you get a free basic driver training course. This is an $1895.00 opportunity. It is actually a sales pitch but when else would you have the ability to drive all of these great cars at speed? I purchased the AMG C 43 2017 and love the car and its performance. The 4.0 TT rated at 612 hp. The previous gen E63s 5.5L TT rated at 577hp. Benz is getting more power from smaller engine. How much power is Benz holding back in the 5.5L? Shouldnt Benz be getting less power from a smaller engine?

Generally yes, but they make the engine so efficient that they get more power out of a smaller engine then previous or competitors out of a bigger one. Thats the quality of german engineering ^^

But that doesn't make sense for an E class... Or is it just me? Because in my opinion even though the e63s is performance orientated, at the end of the day, someone is purchasing it as an all around daily driver, and certainly not one you intend to drive solely on the track. In my opinion mercedes made the wrong move of even including the performance seats. I'm going to ask my dealer if it's possible to get the edition 1 but get the normal seats instead.

if someone wanted to track it and have more performance in terms of handling (which is why you would need the performance seats for cornering), they would get the c63s coupe, or even the gt/gts...... I don't understand their move on this with the e class.... AND.... this is also the same reason why mercedes does not offer performance seats for the S class amgs, whether coupe or convertible.

I actually much prefer the performance seats for comfort as they're well padded and hug you, plus the design is gorgeous. They aren't "Buckets" like what is available in the GT R, and are in fact very comfortable.
