Just wanted to say I LOVE that Huell Howser is following something that Jonathan Gold wrote about. I have never seen this episode before, thank you so much for posting! I miss both Huell and Jonathan.

this shows how behind the times I am . I had no idea that the french have settled in Vietnam. that's awesome. I am french myself, but of Canadian blood, and born and live in the US.

I guess Huell was totally disappointed in the See's Candy product in a previous episode.

Huell takes to about 5:00 before he figures out there's a connection between French and Vietnamese food, and that the stuff is just a localized version of French bread, coffee and sandwiches. The poor hosts are trying real hard to figure out what the hell Huell is saying, or even talking about, to be good hosts to him but the job isn't easy with his constantly changing inflections, which is not encouraged in their native tongue.
