Born and raised in Chicago. The disrespect was insane lol. It is is an ITALIAN beef. They dip it in Au Jus. You can ask for it dry or just some Au Jus poured on it. Also the mix of "celery / carrots" is giardiniera (pronounced: Jar-da-nair-uh). Sweet peppers is also a super popular and a go to for topping on a beef. Best two spots - Johnny's Beef and Al's Beef. Any local knows it.
