I was a collegiate wrestler who was good enough to make it to the Big dance but not good enough to win it. I didn't think highly of Mr Backland when he was champ on his first run but after listening to him and reading about his exploits in the ring I have become a fan. He is a man of principle which is sorely lacking in today's society. Hannibal, you have the best shoot interviews on KZbin and all I can say is thank you.

I met Mr. Backlund several years ago when he came to the Veterans home in Rocky Hill Ct. What a true gentleman. It was a meet and greet, so as an employee, I was given a few minutes to say hello. I again, had the great pleasure to say goodbye to him at the main gate as we were both leaving. I surely will always remember his " down to earth" way of one-on-one encounters. Again, as I said to Mr. Backlund, on that same day..."Thanks again, Champ!"

I love how Backlund doesn't think of himself as being a heel in the nineties when he "snapped" but rather a babyface that was unappreciated by fans of a "modern" era!!!!!!! ;*D He's one of the greatest when it comes to keeping kayfabe alive, in my book. ;*D

Damien Jones, I see you have an ax to grind with Backlund. This is the second post you've spammed with this nonsense of him "hiding something". If that were the case, wouldn't it have surfaced by now? It's only been over 35 years. Come on. The whole fact that he walked away from the business, Bc he didn't want his daughter to perceive him as being a heel/bad guy while she was a child is extraordinary. Considering now days guys leap @ the opportunity to make it big in the business. Bob was and IS the real deal.

Maybe I don't follow all the interviews as much as some people, but I don't think Bruno ever really broke kayfabe. The closest I heard him come to it was when he would point out that Von Raschke was a tremendous athlete with a great amateur wrestling background. In the WWWF, Von Raschke was some kind of Nazi. I don't even know if Bruno acknowledged that his greatest opponent, Koloff, was Canadian.
