🚙 Overlanding in Winter? Here’s My Mr. Buddy Heater Test! ❄️🔥
I finally got my hands on a Mr. Buddy Heater, but there’s a problem… Unlike in the US, Europe doesn’t have small propane canisters, making it a challenge to run this heater properly in extreme cold! So, in this video, I test it with European gas canisters like Pinguin, Primus Winter Gas, and isobutane mixes to see if it actually works for overlanding with my Dacia Duster 3 Extreme 4x4 + Maggiolina Airlander Plus rooftop tent!
💬 In This Video, I Cover:
✅ Why I bought a used Mr. Buddy Heater instead of a new one
✅ My bad experience trying to buy it new in Germany
✅ How to install European gas canisters & the key differences from US propane
✅ Does it work below -15°C? The reality of using butane/isobutane mixes in winter
✅ My honest thoughts on whether this setup is practical for European overlanding
🔴 Would you trust this heater for overlanding? Comment below and let me know your thoughts!

Would you trust a Mr. Buddy Heater for overlanding in Europe? Or do you have a better winter heating solution? Let’s discuss!

You could try a Webasto solution :) Some cars have it from the factory but at a quick search I saw some aftermarket ones to install, at a fair price compared to Mr. Buddy :)

With a Webasto you lose portability, flexibility, versatility. Fixed systems are good. Proven over and over again but at the end this is a Dacia Duster 3 Extreme 4x4 paired with a Maggiolina Airlander Plus roof top vertical tent from AUTOHOME. It cannot I gest too many fixed systems. It is made to be temporary and adjustable.

I bought crampons and an ice axe but rarely use them 😢

Sad story for myself as well. I have to chose, winter mountaineering or a trip in your home country. Because there is not much snow in high alpine (in Romania) I will leave the ice ace and crampons to rest this year (as you say, bought but not used). But, if I decide to do a glacier around Europe they will serve well as they did in the past. Now the thing is that once if they do their job properly than they are worth the money. Both the ice axe and crampons helped me in my Grand Paradiso solo climb so, they are worth the money I paid.
