Oh no I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it and it made your head hurt, I really wish you could enjoy Mr.Bungle the way we fans do and I hope some day you can but it can be a long process and you might not like it still, I think what is key is that you have to really want to. This is my favourite Bungle song, to me it's just a beautiful piece of art that I never get tired of hearing and the joy that comes from it is unreal, I know there are a lot of changes so I knew you probably wouldn't like it, always happy if you like anything in the mix and of course you're noticing Trevor Dunn, my favourite bass player, super talented and also very wonderful human ❤️ Thank you for the reaction, I appreciate you trying ❤️

Happy Birthday to our queen! A friend of mine once said "music should be enjoyed, not endured" and I blankly disagreed with him. It's good to challenge yourself to listen to things that make you think, or confuse you or that you don't understand. Jay is doing a great job and keeping an open mind. Bungle isn't got everyone, I still struggle to listen to DV all the way through and I've been a fan for 20 years. Keep up the great videos Jay and the exceptional requests Roxanne!

@@roxannemitchell4119 100%, I know you will be super jealous with this story, I think it was about 1990, Faith No More was opening for Billy Idol, this was in Washington DC, myself and a couple of friends parked right next to the tour bus, ended up we hung out with most of the band for a couple of hours while Billy Idol was playing. Roddy and Billy were literally drinking beers out of our cooler, super cool guys. We had met Mike Bordin before the show, he actually walked up to us while we were hanging out and was like, hey you guys again. I only wish there were smart phones back then, I would’ve had some incredible pictures and videos hanging out, again they were so down to earth. They have spoiled me, they set the benchmark so high, unbelievably talented band, still blow me away 30+ years later and one of the main reasons I am in a band today

Haha, this reaction reminds me of when Mike Patton was on a British Heavy Metal/Rock radio show and they asked him to give a list of 10 favourite songs to play on the show. He started out with a mellow Massive Attack track, another was Bjork, then there was some old school jazz, then some ambient funk & soul, a classical orchestral piece, a 90's gangsta' rap track, and some experimental hardcore techno-trance. All of this went out on a Live broadcasted heavy metal radio show back in the late 90's. His song selection received a lot of complaints from listeners phoning in. But that's just Mike being Mike, lol.

Probably a top 3 song on the album with Carousel and Dead Goon. Also, I must be the only one who thinks Mike Pattons other album from that time period (Angel Dust) is a lot weirder and jarring, especially compared to other rock albums from 1991-1992 and as a follow up to The Real Thing. It has a strange vibe to it that always sticks with me, especially listening to the whole album start to end with Easy, with Midnight Cowboy, with the B-Sides. This one is weird, but it’s more like intentional and humorous weird rather than unsettling and disturbing weird. Disco Volante is definitely the weirdest Bungle album, though. That one is a fucking trip and a half.

But you smiled..you smiled..and that`s ok, that`s ok.:) Talking about being smashed by a song without a heavy guitar, without any guitar!:D Just by gdmn keyboards, what!:) Well, that`s some talent too, gotta admit. :) Hey, btw, that quiet final part, with whispers and such, it`s not the real part of this song, it`s actually the intro for the next song - your other favorite - "My ass is on Fire".:))) I guess you`re laughing in that chair now!:))) OK, but it`s cool.:) Historically, this was their first musical credo : if you can picture the band that sounds like a faithful incarnation of the Looney Tunes - that`s it, you got it! :) It`s this sudden changes in tempo, rhythm and genre that confuse, but that`s their motto - it violates all the rules, but on the other thought (other listen) you had fun, like watching a cartoon. And the thing simply rises to another level when you realize that the lyrics are actually the one that unite all these scattered parts into one whole. The lyrics, the meaning of the song, intelligently put through it, is the most cohesive element of it. :) From that point, you can actually distinguish all the confusing parts and various genres.:) So what did we hear here: reggae - most definitely; you could hear some circus music - what kind of (rock?) band plays it anyway..Some ska-music...There`s a techno-dance part.:) There`s a rumba-samba-cha-cha-cha-latino parts.:) Some synth-generic transitions...and that`s about it. All related to the top (and funny) .. (lyrical) intelligence of the band itself. ...No more.:) ...But there will be more.:) Similar, but also different in some way. ;) Well..Be good, and... You`ll see by yourself, in time. Càos! :)

I wonder. I don't know if gimmicky is the right word. And i get that we've all got different tastes...but is the locked door that's keeping you from truly enjoying mr bungle is it that you don't find it sincere like they're just being weird to be weird? Well about the other bungle songs i really don't see why everyone thinks my ass is on fire is weird or hard to listen to except for the "redundant, boring" part. So if Roxanne has some stuff from Disco Volante lined up you might reevaluate or reconsider what's hard to listen to.

@@roxannemitchell4119 I think you hit the nail on the head here. I'd say that Bungle songs like this require repeated listens for most people. In my own experience, for some songs I didn't initially love straight away, I would come back and love one part and that could susbequently grow to the entire song which I'd see as a masterpiece. I initially thought that Disco Volante was largely trolling me (lol) but it grew to become an album close to my heart. On a first listen, you are constantly waiting to hear what is next as opposed to knowing it already and placing it in context and understanding the patterns, variations, and overall structure. This is always going to be the problem when you have first time reactions for challenging songs. Maybe there could be a different type of video category where Jay can digest a song beforehand and then make a video playing and reviewing it.

Bungle music may sound intimidating and overload to some people this is what causes them to make statements like what you said gimmicky, what people can't understand or appreciate they automatically think it's not good or done poorly. I agree some songs can be harder to listen too lol like my ass is on fire 🔥 hell even this song may be hard for some people but I love this song how much changes it makes and I think people who are a fan of prog-rock and experimental/avante will love this song or like it at first listen but for those who don't have much knowledge or experience in theses genres might not find it pleasing on first few listens or etc:3

Kinda gives me a toothache, so we all get a takeaway from them. After 3 albums they also ran out of shit apparently. Maybe it's because they cram 15 songs into one. As if they were afraid every song was going to be their last. I'm a fan but it's hard to spin this disc for everyone. It takes a real open mind to get through some of this shit. And you will find yourself revisiting it because no other group is really trying this experiment.

There is most likely only one song of this album you will like and thats ‘girls of porn’ its a dirty funky little tune that apart from the incestuous lyrics is pretty straight forward. Honestly the first album is not the finished article, it’s funny, childish, offbeat and at times glimpses of brilliance. Next album is peak Bungle, its proper freaky out there even LESS accessible and definitely weirder but more polished and focused - you will NOT like it at first. You want to see how weird ?
