Channa Mation

Күн бұрын

Mr. Custer is a comical song about a soldier's plea to General Custer before the climactic Battle of the Little Bighorn against the Sioux, to allow him to stay behind, because he had a bad dream about the battle.
Channa Mation brings to life this soldier in this amusing cartoon to entertain and please young and old alike.

There's a website that features every Billboard Number One starting in 1958. I can't access them in chronological order being an elderly Luddite. When I read the entry for this song, the chronicler spent a great deal of time calling it racist. I personally think the target is Custer's hubris and failure.

My late parents hated the song MR.Custer. Today it would not be recorded and played on the radio because it’s offensive. George Custer was a stupid idiot who disobeyed his superiors that told him to set camp up 20 miles from where the Sioux village was and wait for other troops & supplies to arrive. But Custer didn’t listen. Sitting Bull is a great American, so is Crazy Horse another great American.

Little Big Man was there and confirmed my suspicions. If you go see the beautiful country around Ft Davis in southwest Texas, then think of the long trip to Little Big Horn, you might think of the profound arrogance, ego, racism, and stupidity that still drives international politics. All that effort and sacrifice just to massage the ego of some politician.
