Great editing. this is scarier than the actual film. and I'm not trying to be one of those haters who got mad at the marketing campaign. I get it. You gotta sell the film and the film is a product. But, this product was avocado and celery: it was good. I like the movie, plot holes aside. It's a work of art.

This movie was a letdown. don't understand what all the hype was about. It's definitely not scary interesting, but not scary

Not scary to you maybe. But everyone gets scared by something different. Like ive watched some of the scariest horror films of all time (according to other people) and they have not bothered me in the slightest, but i see why they scare other people. This film shook me because of the uncanny and claustrophobic feel, but i can see why others were not as scared. All down to what we fear i suppose

Longlegs is a "Toad the Wet Sprocket"-type name from the nineties. Ok-Soda nonsense. The Daria reaction to Silence of the Lambs--not an actual SIlence of the Lambs contender. Osgood Perkins said that Silence of the Lambs is this film's key in an interview once. It is not the doorway or the window. It is not a facsimile. It's a riff. Remember the opening with the band mumbling and the gain static drifting into the ether? But, Longlegs happens to work really well because of the demon Baal (from the movie The Rite w' Anthony Hopkins) who has spider legs in Hell. Being open to interpretation is a skill in and of itself artistically. Nic Cage's Dale Ferdinand Cobble, is a perpetually basement-based would-be glam rocker from Amish Pennsylvania who discovered esoterism and New-Orleans-Hoodoo-black witchcraft during his rumspringa from which he never returned. He ended up with the Oregon Satanic Cult the literal OSC in Ellensburg, WA, as they had been run out of the state. Another interpretation is that the negative space from the cinematography symbolizes the absence of the father figure in Agent Lee Harker's life. It was the fathers who committed the slaughter. The weird sound of the word "Daddy" missing from the half-phrase longlegs, the image of the spider and his web. Because Lee and Dale are siblings, siblings from the same father, the negative space in the film. It is all a massive metaphor reflecting on how siblings who were equally molested differ in their coping strategies. MUSIC. LAW ENFORCEMENT. READING. CRAFTSMENSHIP. SHYNESS. WITHDRAWAL EXUBERANCE. FOOLISHNESS. DEDICATION. SUICIDE> It's a film about grief

Certainly. The fact is this. The film is a metaphor. It is not supposed to scratch our itch for realism the way Silence of the Lambs does. Longlegs is a fairytale. It used the tropes of serial killer thrillers to present a story completely through subtext.
