I had to explain to her that I had to learn a lot of mental barriers to not reflect the environment I grew up in and Im not going to ever let anyone take me there just because they feel like they can talk to me any type of way. There are many men who are disrespectful or downright cruel to their Christian wives and the wives stay because churches teach it's a sin to divorce, even when he acts that way. Also that she must be submissive still. Even non-religious people have trouble leaving an abusive relationship. When religious doctrine is on the side of her staying with him, it's 100 times harder to leave. And children usually wind up involved. I've seen it firsthand in the churches I've been to, my family, and from the women at a shelter I stayed at.

I'm willing to bet the only reason 'Mr. Endure' moved to Japan is because he knew the women there wouldn't speak up about him abusing them. The reason is because in Japan, people tend to keep things to themselves because they don't want to be a burden to others. Worse is that if someone is a victim of a crime, chances are their own family will give them shit because it 'looks bad' upon them. So basically I'm theorizing he knew his victims wouldn't fight back and he could get away with anything. A monstrous coward.

Something designed to hurt and humiliate him publicly and something a loving spouse, who had his trust, should never say. I felt 0 pity for my mom, and I wanted to slap her myself, she got off relatively easy in my opinion. If it was anybody besides my mom saying it to him they would have caught an ass kicking. Once they get married they will have allowed God into their relationship and God will fix it. She took the pastor's advice and the beatings didn't stop. If anything they just got worse. She went back to the pastor and he basically told her you have to wait. God sometimes takes his time but God fixes everything. So she waited for 3 years and decided she wasn't going to endure anymore because he beat her so badly that she almost saw God. Forgot to add this part but The lady later learned that the pastor himself was hitting his wife and kids

"Endure forever" is not Biblical. It's sad people are buying into that notion because of fake Christians on a podcast. Lots of people need to start actually reading the Bible instead of substituting with "alpha" men who beat women because they're afraid of men.

My first long term relationship started when I (m) was 17 and she was 21. After about a year we had a seemingly normal argument that was escalating to a place I thought was dangerous. So I decided I was going to put some distance between us and when I grabbed my keys she wigged out and started shoving me and trying to block the door. Eventually everything calmed down and we went back to normal. I should’ve known then that was a huge red flag. Within the next year a similar argument happened and when I tried to leave this time I was met at the door with a kitchen knife to my throat. I had to grab both her arms and throw her to the side to get away. After I left and calmed down I felt like I had been in the wrong for grabbing and pushing her aside because Im a man and had about 100 lbs on her. I felt guilty and ultimately ended things because I felt guilty and thought I needed to fix some things with myself. That stuff messed me up for a while. It definitely always escalates!

There comes a very poignant scene where the woman says " Just a slap magar nahi maar sakta" which means just a slap but he can't do that. Then she later explains how just one slap can foreshadow years of violence, control, silencing. A*u*e is a*u*e doesn't matter if it lasts for 1 second or 1 year, every victim should have the right to speak and we as a society should make sure that we facilitate such an environment where all the victims feel free to speak up.

i had nightmares for years as a child after me and my mom left our abusive father. the first memory of my life is of seeing him trying to kill her. the logical conclusion of abuse is death, and physical abuse eventually escalates to that point. not surprised to see the dude talking about the way he wants to murder women in such graphic, gory detail. reminds me of an ex who used to taunt me w violence, everything from beheadings to the gouging of the eyes. he, too, thought abuse should be "endured" due to the sanctity of marriage.

Yep. Ppl want to use the excuse of "divorce negatively impacts children"... growing up in a violent household does way more damage than divorce. It can subconciously set a person up for a lifetime of horrible relationships in that they either become the perpetrator, the victim or even both. Once abuse starts, the home is already broken.

@@solutionsforabrightfuture3579 here's the thing though... when a man looks at a single mother, he doesn't see or even consider the WHY. He only sees HIS own assumptions of her. He only sees the labels. I don't know how many times I've had to hear that I'm "used up trash" for having to do this alone. Or hear how "men don't want baggage" & "you picked wrong". No idea as to how much time I spent on blaming myself & sorting my own baggage so I could leave it in the past. Only to have it repeatedly thrown in my face in the now by men. They have no idea that I'm a single mother because his father slowly lost his mind over the course of yrs & left me NO choice but to protect our own kid from his father. & his father? Lol he gets all the room in the world to play the "victim card". "Women are evil", "the courts are one-sided"... nevermind the fact that he openly admitted in court that he threatened our son's life AND actually tried to justify it like it was a normal Tuesday activity. My looks don't matter. My skills don't matter. My body count doesn't matter. My personality & values don't matter. Men only see "used up trash" & there's absolutely NOTHING I can do about it.

When I saw that first video with Melina on the whatever podcast I thought "on the example of abuse, these guys see themselves in the position of abusers and so they think the victim should 'endure'. When the example changes to cheating, they see themselves as the victims so they think divorce (or worse) is suddenly acceptable." They don't have consistent or empathetic views because they wanna protect themselves only in either situation.

Exactly. I stayed with a mentally ill man for 14 years, I had two sons with him. He tried killing me drunk one night and also hurt our 3 year old in the attack. I should have left after the first time but they desensitize you and you end up thinking it’s just a normal relationship with issues. It almost cost me my life and I’m lucky to be alive today because he almost succeeded that night but by the grace of God I got away before he finished the job. It was horrifying. I’m now happily married to a wonderful man who never disrespects me like my ex did. My ex ended up offing himself a year after I left with the kids. I had gotten full custody of the kids and a restraining order against him for us and had moved hundreds of miles away from him to keep me and my boys safe. He was very unwell mentally and I always had a feeling he was capable of killing me and the kids and offing himself. Thankfully he was only able to end himself when he finally went full mental breakdown. Sad he couldn’t of gotten help but thankfully everyday for my new life for me and my chidlren. No one should ever endure physical, mental or emotional abuse.

I really can't understand how anyone with any love for another could put them through shit like this. Physical, psychological abuse is abuse and should never be normalized to the degree that MLD (I'm guessing it's an acronym for "Major League Dipshit") attempted. I told my girlfriend the other day that even if your in martial arts, your chances of combating a man are very slim. She agreed and mentioned that why abusive women go straight for the mind and are rarely physical. It was a good conversation, and when seeing this we concluded that nobody should ever have to be in that situation. Telling someone in a abusive relationship to “endure” is the same as telling a heroin addict to “keep shooting”. It’s pointless and leads to chaos. I hope that man develops common sense before he makes us look worse.

My mom was very emotionally and mentally abusive in my youth, and she said something to my dad once, publicly, that was positively foul. She intended to hurt and humiliate him and he slapped her across the face. One time that's it. I never saw him do it besides that one time but honestly my mom had it coming. She intended to publicly humiliate him and I didn't feel bad for her. That's why to this day I'll never condemn a man for hitting a woman until I know the reason why. My dad was the one who took the criticism and he was treated like a villain, but I don't think he was in the wrong

Statistically though many women are abusive physically as well, for those who live in countries and cultures where its currently viewed as a crime or disgusting behavior to ever lay your hands on a woman even in self defense they will use that to their advantage. Towards men, their children or in the cases of same sex other women as well. I am not saying men are saints either far from it. A lot of the more serious injuries and even deaths occur when men get physically violent in comparison, but any level of violence usually takes a mental toll.
