This Emmy award-winning is famous for reimagining Mr. Freeze's origin which had such a huge impact that it was later adapted for the comics. Before this episode originally it's already download as a criminal named Mr. Zero who was just a generic villain with an ice gun. He wasn't officially named mr. Freeze until the 1960's Adam West Batman series which also was adapted in the comics later. This entire episode was adapted for the DLC Cold Cold Heart for the Game Batman Arkham Origins.

This episode is legendary for how it really revolutionised the character of Mr Freeze for the better, giving him such a heartbreaking story and origin that is both groundbreaking, relatable and deeply tragic, all thanks to Paul Dini, Bruce Timm and the wonderful voice work by the late and great Micheal Ansara, and now this origin has remained as the origin and motivation of the character in the comics and multiple media to this day. This episode to this day is even taught and examined at schools and institutes teaching students the art of screenwriting.

freeze story is a great character study in what makes a great villain. He's known to be ice cold to the collateral suffering inflicted to obtain his goals but what sets him apart is he struggles to revenge a legitimate grievance for something other than personal gratification. the tragedy of Nora's condition making it necessary for her to remain cryogenically frozen in a state of limbo between life and death essentially left Victor frozen in grief, unable to cure his wife or let her go

Fun fact: Farris Boyle was played by Mark Hamill and he recorded his lines for it before he ever got cast as The Joker. In fact he got cast as Farris on his name alone as a bit of stunt casting, but when they were looking for a new Joker actor he had to actually audition for it. He nailed it of course.

Mr. Freeze has always been the most intriguing villain in the Batman Universe. When ever I see him, I can't help but feel sympathy for him. The difference between him and other villains is he believes his actions are justified of saving some one he cares so much about. I understand his motivations but I do not condone his actions. I still believe there is some good in him buried beneath his exterior. Mr. Freeze also serves as a warning about how grief can consume someone and the lengths some may go to in order to cling what they hold dear.
@Gojirawars03

I really appreciate here how Batman drew a very direct line between vengeance and justice. One is personally motivated, inherently selfish, and ultimately only leaves an empty feeling inside. The other is morally justified, selfless, and truly fulfilling in a way that vengeance can never be.

I think you are watching the episodes in the order they came out for their first diffusion (hence why you started with the cat and the claw episode 1, which was the first broadcased on TV). That is not the ideal order in which to view them though: the chronological order for the story is: 01 "on Leather wings" 02 "Christmas with the joker" 03 "nothing to fear" etc. On leather wing is supposed to be the first one chronologically speaking: as you may have noticed, in this episode, the police is chasing Batman and trying to arrest him, and though Gordon is advocating working with Batman, he doesn't get is way at first. Also, we see Harvey Dent working with Gordon. To be fair, it's not that big of a problem, but you may see characters for the first time BEFORE they are properly introduced, and let me tell you, the origin story of many characters are very well done in this series: Harley Queen, Two face, Mr Freeze (as you saw here), etc. That's why I would advise watching them in the chronological order of the story rather than by order of first diffusion on US TV.

Sorry. "Wage slavery" is a silly contradiction in terms. If you are being paid - you aren't a slave - by definition. Its popular because nobody (especially BAD employees) ever believe they are being paid "what they're worth". So quit and go find someone who will pay you 100k a year to surf the net most of the day. Or start your own business and charge whatever you think you are worth. Your customers will quickly let you know if you're right. Good luck.

4:44 - Dude, that is almost *EXACTLY* what a real estate CEO (Tim Gurner) said *THIS **_WEEK_* irl: "There's been a systematic change where employees feel the employer is extremely lucky to have them, as opposed to the other way around," and "We've got to kill that attitude and that has to come through hurting the economy." And if you think I'm reading too much into the quote, there's no way he could be that *_LITERALLY_* cartoonishly evil, etc. it's on video, and he also said quote: "I think the problem that we've had is that people decided they didn't really want to work so much anymore through COVID" and most significantly: "We need to see unemployment rise," and "Unemployment has to jump 40, 50% in my view. We need to see pain in the economy. We need to remind people that they work for the employer, not the other way around." The reality is that a LOT of millionares, right-wing commentators like Nick Fuentes, and American Republican politicians in general absolutely *DESPISE* poor people. All Ferris Boyle did was say the quiet part out loud.
@kenle2
@kenle2 8 ай бұрын
You realize everything in those quotes you posted is THE OBJECTIVE TRUTH, right? Just because its harsh doesn't make it wrong. If nobody has the idea to develop a business, then work themselves half-to death (which most business owners DO - look up their time investment), risk bankruptcy and huge debts then the employees don't get paid. The "minimum wage" isn't a Federal mandate,the way some silly posters seem to think: The minimum wage is ZERO, if nobody is running the business you used to work at and it collapses. Government produces nothing but rules and bureaucrats who like having mostly guaranteed pretty well-paying positions (the D.C. area is now richer than Manhattan, and it isn't because private-sector CEO's are homeowners.) Government takes money from employers and employees in taxes literally AT GUNPOINT (IRS agents are armed) then pays their bureacracy - a LOT - and distributes what is left. Often based solely on political considerations. And still.racks up insane levels of deficit spending. Unless government bails them out, businesses who do that FAIL. The contrast is pretty clear.

it's sad how most of the villains in this show are relatable characters and have tragic backstories. it doesn't seem fair at all.

I've said this before but I'm not sure you are reading the comments. I just wanted to let you know that since you're still early on with Batman the Animated Series, you're actually watching the show in the wrong order. The one on the streaming service is wrong. In general the order on the streaming service isn't favoured by fans due to there are a lot of pacing problems and continuity errors with the way the episodes are on the streaming service. Here's the correct order: Season 1 1) On Leather Wings 2) Christmas with the Joker 3) Nothing to Fear 4) The Last Laugh 5) Pretty Poison 6) The Underdwellers 7) P.O.V.0 8) The Forgotten 9) Be a Clown 10) Two-Face - Part 1 11) Two-Face - Part 2 12) It’s Never Too Late 13) I’ve Got Batman in My Basement 14) Heart of Ice 15) The Cat and the Claw - Part 1 16) The Cat and the Claw - Part 2 17) See No Evil 18) Beware the Gray Ghost 19) Prophecy of Doom 20) Feat of Clay - Part 1 21) Feat of Clay - Part 2 22) Joker’s Favor 23) Vendetta 24) Fear of Victory 25) The Clock King 26) Appointment in Crime Alley 27) Mad as a Hatter 28) Dreams in Darkness Season 2 1) Eternal Youth 2) Perchance to Dream 3) The Cape and Cowl Conspiracy Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (movie) 4) Robin’s Reckoning - Part 1 5) Robin’s Reckoning - Part 2 6) The Laughing Fish 7) Night of the Ninja 8) Cat Scratch Fever 9) The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne 10) Heart of Steel - Part 1 11) Heart of Steel - Part 2 12) If You’re So Smart, Why Aren’t You Rich? 13) Joker’s Wild 14) Tyger Tyger 15) Moon of the Wolf 16) Day of the Samurai 17) Terror in the Sky 18) Almost Got ‘Im 19) Birds of a Feather 20) What Is Reality? 21) I Am the Night 22) Off Balance 23) The Man Who Killed Batman 24) Mudslide 25) Paging the Crime Doctor 26) Zatanna 27) The Mechanic 28) Harley and Ivy Season 3 1) Shadow of the Bat - Part 1 2) Shadow of the Bat - Part 2 3) Blind as a Bat 4) The Demon’s Quest - Part 1 5) The Demon’s Quest - Part 2 6) His Silicon Soul 7) Fire from Olympus 8) Read My Lips 9) The Worry Men 10) Sideshow 11) A Bullet for Bullock 12) Trial 13) Avatar 14) House & Garden 15) The Terrible Trio 16) Harlequinade 17) Time Out of Joint 18) Catwalk 19) Bane 20) Baby-Doll 21) The Lion and the Unicorn 22) Showdown 23) Riddler’s Reform 24) Second Chance 25) Harley’s Holiday 26) Lock-Up 27) Make ‘Em Laugh 28) Deep Freeze 29) Batgirl Returns Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (movie)

FYI Krysta has gone on the record saying that she rarely reads comments. So she'll most likely not see this. Thankfully, BTAS isnt the most continuity based series, so watching it out of order should be fine.

What I dont get is why Streaming service never use Production order for shows like these. They seem to just make stuff up and post it on their service. It makes things confusing for newcomers too.

@@EmperorVegeta0204 Overall it may not be the most continuity heavy with a few notable exceptions however the following shows and especially Justice League and Justice League Unlimited are very continuity heavy.

Krystalogy, That was the best Reaction episode of Batman the Animated Series that is titled Heart of Ice. Also, Did you enjoy Mr. Freeze's Debut in Batman The Animated Series? Also, I am looking forward to the Next Reaction episode of Batman the Animated Series Next Saturday. Also, Batman was smart in using the Chicken Noodle Soup against Mr. Freeze. Also, Batman did a great job in taking care of both Ferris Boyle and Mr. Freeze. Also, You keep up the good work on the Reaction episodes of Batman the Animated Series every Saturday that you upload on KZbin.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
