As a Romanian I can tell you that we have never been on the side of the Russians or those who want to conquer territories to benefit from resources or geopolitics. We are in these lands and we enjoy the life that these landscapes offer us. Romania has offered a lot to humanity and we want to be respected like any other country and I think that in these times we are living, finally, our values, the beauty of the country, the history are recognized and together we can build a better future. Romania has always wanted to be free, independent, and the context in which it has been for hundreds of years has taught every Romanian how valuable this is. If we know our history we can build a better future.

The thing is in ww2 no romanian wanted to be placed in a war. But the german took parts of transylvania and gave it to hungary and threatened to invade if not supported, the russians took basarabia and bucovina and threatened the same. It's a no win scenario when you are caught between 2 powers of the war path.

The video conveniently jumps almost 1000 years from the retreat of Aurelian skipping over the Gothic Kingdom, the alliance with Constantine the Great, the Gothic-Hun Wars, the Gothic invasions of the Eastern and Western Roman Empire, the birth of Alaric in Dobrogea in the Balti Royal line, the sacking of Rome by him, and many other interesting things like the Mongol Invasion the fight against them and the subsequent emergence of the Romanesque (Gothic) Principalities - Transylvania, Moldova and Wallachia.

12:00 small correction there... Romania joined Axis Powers not because they were brainwashed by propaganda... in June 1940 USSR invaded Basarabia (north-eastern Romania), and in November that year Romania joined Axis Powers..in 1941 when Germany invaded the Soviet Union, Romania committed more troops to the Eastern Front than all other allies of Germany combined. Romanian goal was never to fight GB / US or other allies, but to fight back the Soviets who invaded them first. (similar to what Finland did). Basically Romania did in both world wars what they thought it was best for them (in WW1 we joined the Entente and fought against Germans / Austrians even though the Romanian king was German and cousin of the German Keiser. and in WW2 they sided with Nazis, because the Allied forces didn't respond when USSR invaded Romania, and they thought joining Germany was the best option). King Michael didn't signed anything with USSR, he arrested Antonescu (the Romanian PM and Marshal) and ordered the Romanian Army to not shoot at the invading Red Army... for 2-3 weeks the Soviets murdered, raped, and pillaged everything in their way before a proper truce was signed between Romania and USSR.

Since 1600 almost all people in Romania were enslaved (serbi and iobagi), tied to the land they were born on and in servitude to the boyar owning the land until their death. After 1821, 1848 and the Union, slavery was abolished, everyone became a free man and was given land ownership.

@@MrGiant Look it up bro, I tell no lies. Slavery is forbidden here from before Turks and Turkomans came to enslave us. They were stealing our girls and boys as tribute and sending them to the army selling them as White Slaves in America. It was bad, but we don't like to complain about that. We fought back. And we won.
