Had the same problem, thumb was sore..took it apart, then I noticed carbon build up in the thermocouple, the closest to the burning element...cleaned it with fine sandpaper back to shiny... put it back in..guess what? She fired up! Save your money, clean the carbon off. No disassembly required except one screw. 2 min and done. Try that first fellas before you buy.

That worked for me last night. Just cleaned the tip carefully and it stays lit just fine. Before buying a new thermocouple I highly recommend this cleaning first. It could hurt. Thanks!👍👍

@@ronharmsen8466 are you saying to clean the end of thermal couple or what? also where is a good place to buy a older TC = thermal couple
@be1still3 жыл бұрын
@@Wydglide yeah, the very end of the piece sticking in towards the heat. Usually one Philips screw to get it out, then clean the end with lite sandpaper. Try that first 😎

Hey thanks so much for the video! I actually just had to replace mine, only used my new Mr Heater for one season and apparently the thermocouple just got dirty. Had never taken one apart before but mine was doing pretty much what yours was so I figured that was probably the issue so I pulled mine out cleaned it up with some steel wool put it back in and it worked great. Thanks so much for the video to point me in the right direction my friend!

Thanks for pinpointing the issue! I was able to clean the tip with a Dremel and wire brush to remove the carbon and all is good! Note you can test with a multimeter in Millivolts DC using as lighter to heat (look up videos on testing a furnance thermocouple).

I have a loose steEl looking wire that s loose. Do I just reconnect it to the other post that s there?

My Mr heater was knocked over and the thin wire on tje right side that keeps the heater continuously running has lost the sauder that held it in place. If we get the wire in the right spot it will stay on but every time we do this we have to find the right spot to keep it going. Does anyone have pictures of where the wire sits to make it work and possibly sauder in place??? Sry for the lengthy question.

It would be faster to replace that part

Do you have 2 posts? Mine came off and I am going to re-solder and put back together to see if it starts

Do you know how to test those thermocouplers, thank you!
@jackhawkins40565 жыл бұрын
Not worth the hassle. Just pick up a thermocouple for less than ten bucks. If the problem isn't the TC, then you probably need a new heater because it's in the regulator and not user repairable.

Wiggled the wires you were replacing, started working again. Will replace it if it happens too often. Thanks!

Thanks guys... I have one of these that decided to not always stay lit. After watching this video I realized I could touch the safety switch and it would shut off so I thought it was the switch but it turned out to be a poor connection on the connectors. I pulled the thermal coupler connectors and re-crimped them and cleaned the switch connectors and we are up and running again!

Ive always had to light mine by hand but now propane isnt coming through does that feed the propane?
@tim725711 ай бұрын
Its a shutoff valve I case the fire goes out it stops the gas flow. Yes if it's bad it won't allow you to start it. Jump the two wires just to see if the valve will open if it dies you have a bad thermocouple if not a valve is bad

2 things first you can easily remove the metal covers and make things a lot easier. Second you used a lighter that is equal to a stick of dynamite and could blow up in your hand. Think about safety before you show such things!!!

Any one else have a problem with the F237249 thermocouple on MR30T tank top heaters? The bare wire that is brazed to the housing keeps breaking off at the braze after 4 or 5 months of use.
