the fact that there is so much retail theft in San Francisco that several stores have simply left the city altogether proves Ray's point.

It used to be a nice city to go out to dinner. Now the A-holes run it because we let them. Despite the delusional politicians running the show now, consequences will eventually be inescapable.

If spending your life bouncing from one fight to another while going in and out of jail sounds like perfect sense, then sure. Being able to swallow your pride and walk away from doing something stupid is an important skill to cultivate.

Yeah, no 'evil' despot or tyrant in history ever thought of themselves as truly evil or a 'villain'. Even Hitler thought he was helping improve society.

People like that councillor live in a bubble waiting to pop. When it does, they’ll be wishing that more real men like Ray existed in the world! Also, It’s because of men like Ray throughout history that the bubble even exists todays. The cycle will come full circle, history confirms it!

loud music - people say nothing, swearing - nothing, shouting in a garden - nothing. Start from your neighbors. You are afraid to get into a conflict so you allow your neighbors to get away with everything.

I have three: 1 - Everyone has a different idea of what constitutes "being an arsehole," especially in this day of "it was just a joke!" With everyone having a different idea of what's acceptable - and a habit of doubling-down when they're in the wrong - you're going to end up with a lot of random violence if you can bash people for that. 2 - Without witnesses, there's no way to know if someone did something to warrant a bashing. Anyone can just attack anybody, and if they get caught, just say "they were being an arsehole." 3 - You'll end up with the strongest and most violent getting away with whatever behaviour they want, because even if they cause trouble, nobody's going to mess with them. You can't rely on there being someone bigger and stronger around with the right mind who can put them in their place. Women especially will be vulnerable. So while there is a logic, and even appeal, to what Ray is saying here, it can never work in practice because it would need absolutely everyone to be on the same page in all things. With everyone going around permitted to act on their own interpretation of right-and-wrong, you end up with absolute chaos.
looking back, this "therapist" is horrible at his job and wouldnt let ray finish his story

The group councillor is played by David Michod. The director is Nash Edgerton, he plays Ally's brother, the asshole with the ponytail who Ray kicks through the glass window at Ally's parent's house.
