Great Introduction on how to introduce Continuous Provision. In Australia it is called Walker Learning which does the same. In Australia many schools are offering Continuous Provision( Walker Learning) for Reception, Year 1 and 2. Two Australian ladies, Shona Bass and Kathy Walker developed the philosophy and practice for us....intentional learning, investigative learning in pre- school to Year 2. Their books are “Early Childhood Matters”, “ Play Matters”, “ Engagement Matters” ( for year 3 onwards). Planning, curriculum, documentation, assessment and reporting advice all provided to make transition to the philosophy as helpful as possible with CDs full of templates. I love it and I followed it in my own classroom.

I would love to get effective continuous provision running smoother in my class (we use it alongside more formal teaching) and am so excited to see more of these podcasts! Thank you for doing them :D and if you're happy to accept visitors to come and see it all in action, I'd love to come and take a look!

I love the idea of continuous provision in ks1 but, preempting my slt questions, how do you ensure full curriculum coverage for each child? Do you still teach direct sessions to children? What balance is there of teacher led teaching and continuous provision and how do they fit together? How do you assess the children against the different objectives for each subject?
