Hi, great review, glad to see this game getting attention. I see this is the original version, I personally much prefer the anniversary edition, where it "fixes" initial setup of characters. But I think, you made a mistake, besides missing the bluff with Smith: Lestrade was under light from Watson (although having it's alibi card already, would not have changed the outcome). I rate the base game as an 8 out of 10, but with the expansion it is such an amazing 10 out 10 game! Learning curve is also a bit long, once you just see, without thinking about it, each character's moves, then the real cat and mouse game begins. 😊 Also for better Mr Jack odds: draw 2 initial cards, keep 1 for Mr Jack, put the other under the alibi deck (last to be drawn).

Excellent playthrough. Definitely seems like a fun little filler game if doing a 2 player game night. Strategy games for 2 people are hard to find where they are fun, don't take hours and still offer some interesting choices.

I prefer Mr Jack NY, I think the character abilities are more subtile abd the pourcentage of win is closer to 50/50.

This mights seem like a dumb question, but what if Mr Jack goes unseen and on the next round is next to someone? Does he become seen again and does that player flip all of the unseen tokens that are seen back over?

He can be seen or unseen, flipping the character tokens only means that those characters are proven innocent. If Mr Jack was announced unseen, all the seen characters would be flipped to the innocent side; if he became seen (eg. next to someone) in the next round, the unseen characters would be flipped to the innocent side(if not already proven as such). So no one would get flipped back to the colored side.

If he knew which card she picked, he would have not made the choice to try to save that character. He was trying to let the most of them be visible

Watson, Holmes and Lestrade are all characters in Sherlock Holmes while William Gull was a real person and real suspect as Jack the Ripper and then... John Smith just feels like they were running out of ideas.
