Honestly this makes me appreciate the episode where they went on strike even more. Squidward was finally standing up to Krabs and even trying to get Spongebob in on it because even tho he doesn’t like the sponge, he sees that Krabs is taking advantage of him and I feel that he genuinely wanted to help Spongebob see the truth when he could’ve just gone on strike by himself. Makes me wonder if they should’ve just stole the formula and went to work for Plankton, he may technically be the villain but I think if he would treat them better. When he swapped lives with Krabs we saw him actually being nice to Spongebob and giving him the raise he deserved. What about the episode where Mr. Krabs fell in love with Mrs. Puff, and was more than willing to overspend as much money as possible for her just to treat her with material possessions, even when she didn't ask and didn't feel he needed to go this overboard for her? It got to the point Mr. Krabs asked Spongebob to prevent him from spending so much for her, but whenever he'd get enamored by Mrs. Puff, he'd turn a complete 180 and ask him to spend a lot of his money on different items to impress her or make her happy. Mrs. Puff never coerced Mr. Krabs into any of this and eventually felt he was being more than a bit much, thus ending the relationship. I was wondering if that was going to be addressed since his feelings for her had little to do with money, and developed a crush on her like a relatively normal adult would at first, minus the horrible spending habits later down the line, but it wasn't. Especially since his love for Pearl and his mother were mentioned. He also tries to get Spongebob back after Squidward chastises him for selling his soul for 62 cents, and feels genuine guilt and remorse for his actions, and genuine happiness when he gets him back.

In one episode to prove your pirate theory his dad or grandpa was coming to vist him to see if he was doing good and he had to turn the krusty krab into a ship and make it seem like it was a real ship, and i think mr. Krabs was talking about how he was a pirate and it shows him as a baby on a ship in a cage, while his dad was fighting skeletons or something. And he passed his ship onto krabs and krabs hired a crew but ended up selling his ship for money and when he had money (a chest full of coins, diamonds, etc.) He was sad when having to spilt it up with his crew. Also in the lost mattress episode he goes into a coma from Squidward, spongebob, and Patrick getting rid of his mattress (which was full of money) and he was send to the hospital and the doctor said "he is in a cash-coma only the return of his money can save him now" and the nurse had to remove krabs from his room because he didnt even have insurance. Mr. Krabs also only spends his money for love. In the episode Krusty Love he wanted to make mrs. Puff happy so he would send spongebob to buy her stuff then would get mad for him spending his money. In the first spongebob movie he makes a second Krusty Krab to make more money. And in alot of episodes he tells people "I'm Mr.Krabs and I like money" And in the episode Arrgh! He was so obsessed with getting treasure that he "forced" spongebob and Patrick to be pirates and find buried treasure from a board game and used a board game as a map to find the treasure. He made them freeze and starved them. I can name a few more episode where his money is his priority but i think i said enough lol, if you need more i can help more 😁. He starts to date Mrs. Puff, but ruins it by lavishing more and more gifts on her, perhaps under the impression that material things and symbols of money are the only way to maintain a relationship. He seems to be rearing Pearl to feel something similar, as early seasons mostly see her interactions with her father as money-getting tantrums. Sometimes he relents, and other times he offers her a significantly cheaper alternative that is so unreasonable, it leaves her cold. Finally, it appears to be a cultural badge of honor among Crabs. There is literally a competition held to determine who is the Cheapest Crab of the Year. So in addition to the physical euphoria and obvious benefits money brings him, there's also his status among other crabs to consider. Ultimately his love of money fluctuates between practical and fetishistic. He's often seen in very VERY intimate contact with money; bathing in it, sleeping with it, wearing it, even folding it into anthropomorphic figures of women and courting it. He does something similar with his cash register, whom he's formed an almost fatherly attachment toward. I apologize that I don't have episode titles readily available for you. After hearing your theory I thought 'Yeah that makes sense, ever since I first saw his character he's been trying to spend as little as possible; and he literally breaks down in tears, as if a loved one has passed away, because money was destroyed.' But then I thought about his daughter, pearl, who we know for a fact is actually related to Mr Krabs - because of the banner in the episode were it's her birthday, which says ' It's a boy' on it, which means Mr Crabs was present for her birth - so that made me wonder who's pearl's Mum? I mean we never see her in the show but we definitely know she was there sometime before it started airing, so what happened? My first thought was that pearl was actually adopted and her parents past away in here childhood and Krabs was here parents close friend and was made pearl's Godfather or something; but that doesn't make sense, if he is truly 'in love' with money then would of most likely avoided people. But then asked myself 'What if Mr Krabs was married to someone and had a child with said person they mysteriously disappear or die a shot time after?' I think Krabs was married and did love this woman, a lot, but after pearls birth he started getting paranoid, specifically about his money situation; and soon realized that now that he was a Dad he was going to lose a lot of money and this made him even more paranoid, because he *needed* the money. So he did the only thing he could think of and staged a little accident for the Mrs. Or I'm think about it much. Or they simply got a divorce and she skipped town and Krabs was so upset that he plummeted deeper into his 'love' of money (now that I think about it that could also be a satisfying answer). But it probably is nothing and I'm probably over thinking it....... but it would still be nice to know about the possibility of a Mrs.

Call me crazy, but I don't think a crab can mate with a female whale. Pearl was definitely adopted. Edit: Or maybe Pearl is his stepdaughter. He married a whale but then his obsession with money drove them apart and she left him. Then again, she never seems to visit Pearl, so it's possible that she died. Or maybe she was also obsessed with money but to a much worse degree than Mr. Krabs to a point where she left her family and Mr. Krabs took full custody.

It was one of the bullworm episodes. They were in the crusty crab debating how to get rid of the alaskan bull worm when Sandy said "I could do it for you. In one of the episodes named “Married to Money”, Plankton makes a money like android to lure Lrabs for the formula, and it works, Eugene go so far as to ask the money to marry him without hesitation In another episode Mr. crabs is locked in a Bank, (Safe Deposit Krabs) and makes fish like replicas made out of money and dates them. Now, I know that he did kind of go crazy due to the lack of water or whatever, but he does still show great affection to the money as if it were a real person. Huh... this is all very interesting, I must say, although a detail that seems to be overlooked is that during the Krusty Krab training video it mentions him being in some kind of war, and falling into a “deep secluded depression” and it has been referenced that he was in the official navy at some point, which is visually implied to be similar to the Allied navy’s of WWII, likewise to its codes of discipline and conduct, my best guess at chronology is that after a limited education and the failure of piracy as a family business, he then joined the navy and applied his seafaring experience, whether or not he’d experienced naval combat is up to speculation mostly, although a story he tells spongebob does imply he had some experience fighting pirates, and then after the “war”, which has never been mentioned since in detail, he then opened the business. Here’s the relevant part of the script for that episode to give context : [scene cuts to a sepia picture of Mr. Krabs as a child, walking up to a soda machine with a quarter on a string wrapped around his hand] You may think that Mr. Eugene H. Krabs, owner and founder of Krusty Krab Inc., has always been the financial wizard he is today. [Mr. Krabs puts in his quarter then takes it out; it's attached to a piece of rope with a hole in the quarter] And you're right! [Mr. Krabs laughs while drinking his soda. *Scene cuts to a tired Mr. Krabs, sitting depressed in a room with light at the window] After the war, Krabs stayed secluded in a deep depression that seemed endless.*[scene cuts to the Krusty Krab, now a retirement home with elderly fish outside playing shuffleboard] But then his luck changed when he acquired a bankrupt retirement home and with a few minor alterations, the Krusty Krab was born.
