From the National Arboretum in Washington DC. An approximately 3-year-old eagle decides it has found the perfect place to take a break. Unfortunately, Mr. P is not in the mood for visitors. Follow along as these two take us on an epic battle, neither willing to throw in the towel.

Worrisome. This visitor is not passive but going on the offensive, esp that one episode on the nest where Mr.P appeared to be falling backwards with the visitor engaging with talons and wings out. TFL needs to return and assist in clearing their territory. Thank you for the video.

WOW.. The way that juvie was so nervy makes me wonder if it is one of P &FL offspring.. The juvie certainly wasn't afraid of trying multiple times. Maybe P recognized the juvie as being one of his so didn't try to kill it. That is one fantastic video.

Wow ! What a battle ! I've never seen any battle that serious and took almost all night. So, BEs can see at night ? 🤔 I really hope no one got hurt tho. This beautiful SA certainly wanted to make this nest as its. Well, it is occupied, young BE ! You just have to look farther, elsewhere. Mr. P, bravo ! I couldn't stop laughing at the caption, Whatever you do, don't touch his sticks! When I saw the Visitor move a stick, I thought, hummmm, doesn't like it where it was. Had to move it, rearrange the furniture. Then that caption showed up and it just cracked me up because it was my train of thought. Maybe I have a bird brain in my Goofy head. 🦅

Wow, persistent little bugger, exciting action but a little scary especially when it looked like the visitor had Mr. P on his back, glad neither was hurt, I wonder if that was just a flyby or a serious take over attempt - good for Mr. P for successfully defending his nest, but where was TFL? - she is usually the heavy artillery in situations like that.

This is a good example of not having enough habitat to find suitable nesting for both Raptors. Suprised a great horned owl does not fight for the spot. With his night vision he'd ambush mr P for sure.

Nope, just a past offspring and/or pure laziness. Wanting to take a nest already built instead of making their own. Its common to see juvenile/younger generation birds and animals to do in their first years of mating season/adulthood.lol They are protected species along with their habitat here in America. If it was destroyed, it was a long time ago and there has been many artificial nesting posts built for them in their place. If there has been any new destruction to their nesting sites, it should and will be prosecuted.

Where was TFL? Is she away again? I think this was one of their past babies He was way too insistent. I don't think Mr. P wanted to hurt him. I do not want any bird to get hurt. I am surprised these birds were even Up at night. I would think TFL would be sleeping with her mate so close to egg time. It is getting late. I hope she doesn't leave again like last year. M15 and Harriet In Fla. are always together. They even let one of the sub adults hang around. One of theirs?

I drive by a nest every morning with 2 Baldys standing guard on it. The nest is 10ft off the ground. Its incredible.

I'm betting that Mr.P has met his match. Again, looking like another year without eggs and poor old Mr. P was really struggling in a few of those clips. I would think a younger, more virile mature eagle would have stopped the nonsense with the intruder rather quickly. Obviously, the immature eagle knows or could sense a certain lack of dominance by Mr. P, either due to age or possible injury.

I appreciate you posting, but a couple of times, it would have been better to have just zoomed out and captured the whole scene, rather than zooming in and trying to pan when there is obvious lag (just inherent to the system) in being able to control the camera.
