You see Sam at world cup ? Last day, end of the night finals.. He and Zach were running after Leroy burnouts and pulling in the beams to and back after they take the American flags out.. Sam was running up and back all night, and all day.. Not the slightest sign of tiring, or aches or pains...

@@danerasmussen6468Excuse me? That almost sounds like an insult pointed at Mr. Sam. Now I know you wouldn't be so stupid as to think that an almost 79 year old man, hanging out darn near always, ISN'T over there popping off knowledgeable tips and advice like it's his gaht damn job. You'd have to be trying not to learn something! I learn something incredibly useful from Sam, even in videos where he doesn't day a word. One look, you just know.

Yeah Sam is the grandparent everyone dreams they could have! The man had tons of knowledge. My grandpa’s knew a ton but they are dead and gone now and I have was old enough to enjoy the knowledge they had being they both was gone before I turn 9 I do remember car shows and my dads dad working on cars but that’s about it! But they was in Sam’s generation my dads grandpa was a big cat nut and he probably tough me something same as my dad did on working in them and collecting cars and old tools a oil cans but moms side showed me how to box and the reason I became a golden glove boxer when I was 17 because I kept after it when he passed away and then military for 10 years 2 of those was a contractor until I was injured and got my tbi medically retiring me! But not I enjoy Muay Thai and Jiu Jitusu and have been passionate about both for 20 years now! Sorry for the long comment. Memory lane of everything I still can remember!

Sam mentioned he still has many of his original set of tools,, I'm 75 and still have and use tools from my original set of Craftsman I bought for $149.00 in 1968. Good tools are lifetime investment and they'll usually give you good service if you take care of them. Thanks to Cleetus, Sam has become and continues to be legendary and we're so happy he's a part of the Freedom Factory Team. Rock on and stay healthy Sam,, we're counting on you being around for a very long time to come.

Loved hearing Sam talk about being a USAF mechanic, and how serious the job is. Not only is the pilot placing his life in your hands, but also his family's future. Training pilots is a major investment for the Pentagon, so they are a valuable resource to be protected. Making sure bolts are torqued to spec isn't an option, it's life or death.

Sam is probably about 10 years older than I am but I remember a lot of the same things just not quite as early. We grew up in a great time and got to see some amazing things happen. I’ll always be grateful that I grew up during these times. I’d love to chat with Sam sometime. We would have a lot in common. He’s a great guy and I can relate to his experiences. Thanks for the videos. I look forward to seeing more. You are all a great bunch of people and are very blessed to experience what you’re doing. Thank you.

I've been looking forward to this one. Thank you Coop for letting Sam just tell his stories uninterrupted. History told from his perspective/time is rare to find in this form. The take away from this is: Ask questions to your elders, they almost always have an interesting story or three to tell. As a 32 year old with no grandparents alive, I really wish I had been more inquisitive when I had the chance.

Hearing them talk about Smokey Yunick brought back a lot of memories for me. I worked at McLaren Engines in Livonia Michigan back in the 80's. I mostly ran engine development testing for GM and one project that I got to work on was a Smokey Yunick hot vapor engine. It was a GM 4 cylinder with Smokies hot vapor setup on it, I believe it was 1986 or 1987, so long ago it can't remember exactly. Without a doubt McLaren was one of the best jobs I have ever had, so many interesting projects and great people. Anyway, I am loving hearing Sam talk about his life experiences.

Man Sam has so many awesome stories from life. My first two vehicles were a 42 GPW Jeep, then a 41 military 1/2 ton closed cab Dodge pickup with a Braden mu2 winch. It was still a newer flathead 6, push button floor starter, and 6 volt electric. I pulled a small fir tree out of the ground root ball and all when I sunk to the axle in the trees in the back yard. Truck didn't move then the tree sorta jumped out of the ground and almost fell on the truck. I sold the Jeep to buy the Power Wagon, then sold that to buy my Dart I still have. I didn't have a license yet either when I bought the military vehicles and finally got my license in the Dart. I got the Dart in 79 with 63k on it and a 383gts nose on it but it was a original 318 car and the nose was replaced after a minor crash early in its life. I did a lot of bolt ons and tweaks and upgrades to that car😎
